Blog Tour & Giveaway: Maximum Risk by Jennifer Lowery!

MAXIMUM RISK
Wolff Securities, Book #1

It should have been a simple rescue mission…
Retired Pararescueman, Quinn Wolff, wrote the book on how to stay alive during a mission when he founded Wolff Securities, an elite private sector security firm. When he fast-ropes down to save missing humanitarian aid worker, Avery Marks, in the remote mountains of Azbakastan he isn’t prepared for the brave, stubborn woman who challenges the rules he wrote in order to protect her.
But when it comes to matters of the heart nothing is simple…
Avery Marks learned a long time ago to take care of herself, but when her convoy is attacked, her friends and coworkers murdered, she has to rely on the aid of intensely capable and handsome, Quinn Wolff to get her safely out of the country. His skills keep her alive, but his kisses put her in danger. In danger of losing her heart. That’s a risk she can’t take ever again.

NY Times & USA Today bestselling author, Jennifer Lowery grew up reading romance novels in the back of her math book and on the bus to school, and never wanted to be anything but a writer.  Her summers were spent sitting at the kitchen table with her sisters spinning tales of romance and intrigue and always with a tall glass of ice tea at their side.
Today, Jennifer is living that dream and she couldn’t be happier to share her passion with her readers.  She loves everything there is about romance.  Her stories feature alpha heroes who meet their match with strong, independent heroines.  She believes that happily ever after is only the beginning of her stories. And the road to that happy ending is paved with action, adventure, and romance. As her characters find out when they face danger, overcome fears, and are forced to look deep within themselves to discover love.
Jennifer lives in Michigan with her husband and two children. When she isn’t writing she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

The air in the cave shifted. She went still, tried to slow her breathing. Seconds later Quinn whispered her name.
A sob built in her throat but she pushed it down, unwilling to let him see how his return affected her.
“Avery?” Concerned. Alert.
She tried to answer, but the words stuck in her throat. Seconds later his hand was on her shoulder.
“Are you all right?”
No. Avery pushed the sleeping bag down and sat up. Her hands found his chest, bulky with vest and equipment, but warm and alive. Needing to feel his heartbeat, she found the hem of his t-shirt and slipped her hands underneath. Hot, taut skin slid beneath her hands as they traveled over rippled abs and upward.
His breath caught when she opened her palm over his chest where his heart beat strong and steady.
“Avery—”
She lifted up and pressed her lips to his, cutting him off. This was what she needed. Not talking. Not questions. To know she was alive, that he was alive, and she wasn’t alone. Reassurance that she was free of her captors.
In control.
His lips were warm, strong against hers. He hesitated, then he took over and the kiss no longer belonged to her. His lips moved over hers and stole her breath away. All her fears dissipated until there was only Quinn and the incredible way he was kissing her. Her hands dug into hard muscle, urging him closer. In response he tightened his arms around her.
He pulled away first. His chest heaved in synchrony with hers. In the darkness she couldn’t see his face to read his expression, but his erratic breathing told her he was as affected by the kiss as she was.
“I’m sorry.” She pulled her hand out from beneath his shirt. “I shouldn’t have—I just needed to know—”
Quinn’s fingers pressed to her mouth. “Don’t. I get it.”

“Now... enough soul searching..." Standing to turn towards him, Beth tugged her long skirt up out of the way and straddled his lap. Her legs wrapped about his waist and she used the leverage to grind against him.
Momentarily distracted by his body’s response, D’trav closed his eyes and moaned.
“We’ve an hour before we open, and you’re not having a problem... now..."
Lowering his head, D’trav resumed the trail of kisses she had interrupted, alternating back and forth between each breast. “I still oughta not done what I did to the girl. Takin’ advantage of her being chained and all. But you know how I am about that stuff. I felt... I don’t know... like someone else had control. Ever since then I’ve wondered if I’m right in the head.”
“You’re my kind of right.” Beth giggled. “You can chain me up any time you want, luv.”
Holding out her wrists, she pulled his attention away from the uncharacteristic introspection. He wasn’t the type to spend a lot of time figuring out why he did things and was glad to be brought back to the moment. His gaze traveled from her wrists to her face, then dropped back down to her breasts. The musky scent of her jasmine perfume wafted upwards, luring him in.
D'trav growled playfully and his kisses turned into nips. “You’re sooo bad. I might be forced to go to the considerable trouble of spankin’ you.”

“I know... I am.” Wriggling against him, Beth playfully pulled away.

Review: Lost in the Beat by Gracen Miller!

Rhythm is the heart of every song.
Jase Collins lives for the stage and the perks of rock stardom. His wild antics and high-profile affairs have earned the sexy drummer the title of Hot Wired’s bad boy. He’s not quite as jaded as his fans think—but just jaded enough not to recognize the best thing that’s ever happened to him until she walks out of his life. And he doesn’t even know her name.
But without harmony a man is lost.
Fallon Morgan has had her life mapped out since high school. She’s earned a full ride scholarship to UCLA with the driving goal of earning her doctorate. Nothing can derail her dreams—except maybe a one-night stand with the infamous Jase Collins. His chilly reception the morning after convinces her to put her biggest mistake in the past and move on without looking back.
When two hearts begin to beat as one…When Fallon’s life takes a dramatic turn, she finds herself with no one else to turn to for help. Jase is obnoxious, demanding, and yet surprisingly tender. Though it chafes her to depend on him, the more time she spends with him changes her perceptions of the bad boy rocker. With each passing day she finds more and more faith in the man behind the public persona. If she can learn to trust her feelings, she might be willing to risk her heart.

What's hotter than a bad boy rocker? A bad boy rocker with a baby! *cue swooning* Careful, folks. This is one scorching read!

Like with all of Miller's books, Lost in the Beat is a very well written story, full of sexy and snark. Toss in previously mentioned rock god and a young, innocent and fiery red head with chemistry so hot, they blow the roof off completely, and you have a hell of a story! I flew through it because I could not get enough!

I'm not a huge fan of contemporary romance, but I love this Rockin' series! Gracen is able to switch between sexy, funny, and beautiful moments with such grace. :) You can't help but want to cheer these characters on!

What I loved most about the story was the phenomenal character development. These characters feel like real people. They're so three dimensional and flawed, yet compliment each other perfectly. Especially Jase. (Can you say new book Boyfran?) He's tough, tattooed, and doesn't care if you don't like it. But underneath the rough exterior, he's a great guy who visits cancer centers and loves his family. Seeing him fall head over heels for Fallon, someone so different from him, and care for Faith was unbelievably sweet. Fallon is the best type of female character. She's incredibly strong and determined, even when the odds are against her.

All Jase's band mates, and sister, are back in this one and I love how they interact with each other throughout the story.

I am eagerly anticipating the rest of this series!

Definitely check these out if you love contemporary romance, rockers, or are just looking for a sexy read!

The thought had barely made it through her mind when Devon stopped in the doorway, looked over his shoulder with a fire burning in his eyes that hadn’t been there before, and said “OH, I will see all of you, m’fhiorghra’ but only when you have the strength for what comes next.” He winked and exited the room, leaving Anya more breathless and aroused than before.

She soaked in the miraculous tub, enjoying the heat of the water and the feel of the herbs working the soreness from her muscles, invigorating her tired body. Wanting to get her hair washed before the water cooled, she turned on the water and attempted to situate herself under the faucet. As she shifted onto her knees, Anya realized a second too late that the bottom of the tub was more slippery than she thought. Her butt went one way, her knees the other, and without warning she slid under the water with an audible yelp!

Before Anya could resurface, two large hands were pulling her from the water as she spit and sputtered warm soapy water in a most unladylike fashion. Embarrassment damn near overwhelmed her as she refused to open her eyes, simply feeling around for the hand towel she knew was on the side of the tub. Devon’s hand met hers as he handed her the cloth and the same electric charge as before ran through her system, landing squarely in her womb. The sound of water pouring into the tub stopped.

After she had wiped her face, Anya sat perfectly still, eyes squeezed shut. She prayed Devon would just leave her in peace, to die of embarrassment. Instead, he spoke, “Are you okay, a chumann?”

She heard the smile in his voice and the thought of simply sinking under the water again bounced around her brain, but she figured he would just fish her out, so she answered, “Yes, I’m fine.” Anya knew she sounded like a petulant child and Devon’s bark of laughter only served to confirm her thoughts.

“What were you trying to do?”

She pouted a moment longer before answering, “I wanted to wash my hair but the tub was slippery. My top half zigged when my bottom half zagged and well…you know the rest.”

“Are you gonna open your eyes?”

“Nope.”

“Why?”

“Because…”

“Please?” She could hear him trying to hold back a laugh and bit the inside of her cheeks to keep from smiling. She was embarrassed…not flirting with the irresistible man that had once again saved her silly ass.

“Nope.” She worked hard to say that one word without laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of the situation.

I am a sarcastic, sometimes foul-mouthed, not afraid to drink a beer, always southern woman with 2 of the most amazing teenage daughters, a menagerie of animals and a voracious appetite for reading who recently decided to write the stories running through her brain.
I read my first book, Dr Suess’ Cat in The Hat by myself at 4 and was hooked. I believe a good book along with shoes, makeup and purses will never let a girl down and that all heroes of all the books I have ever read or will ever write pale in comparison to my daddy!
I am a sucker for a happy ending and love some hot sweaty sex with a healthy dose of romance.I am still working on my story but believe it will contain all of the above with as much SPICE as I can work into it.

Another great addition to this series!

What I love most about this series is the lyrical way the stories are written. There's a magical quality to it, apart from the actual magic within the story. Romance is always the biggest part of each book, and it's always beautifully done and incredibly romantic. There is a great deal of action in this book and having the main baddie's perspective thrown into the mix really adds a great dynamic to each story (along with the beautiful language of the dragons! Love that!). With every book that passes I get more and more eager for the epic showdown between Andrew and the Dragon Guard. I know it's going to be amazing.

I think this is one of my favorite couples from the Dragon Guard series, probably because the story and its characters are both very unique. They have amazing chemistry and I loved that they had some issues to work out during the story.

While the main focus of the book is Devon and Anya, all the characters from previous books make appearances throughout, which is great and really gives the reader an understanding of how special and important this 'family' is.

I am very much looking forward to the next installment to the Dragon Guard series and would definitely recommend this to any paranormal romance lovers! :)

Every cell in Fallon’s body wanted to rebel on principal. Like the good girl she was, she succumbed to Jase’s demands. “Do you ever not get what you want?”
“Yeah.” He stepped right into her personal space, knocking his very naked chest against her breasts.
The way her nipples protruded upon contact, they might as well have been naked against his flesh. The simultaneous dampness in her panties unnerved her. Damn her traitorous body! She ignored the pulsing between her thighs and coerced her libido to focus on him and not her body’s yearnings.
He lifted his hand and wrapped his fingers around her ponytail. A slow, gentle pull on her hair and he notched her head back. “Twice last year I didn’t get what I wanted.” He sounded put out by the inconvenience.
Proof he lives a charmed life! That was as good as always getting his way in her valuation. She’d endured many more disappointments than that in the past year.
His sapphire-blue eyes looked black in the dim lighting. “Care to know what those two were?”
If she said no, then he’d suspect she predicted those disappointments centered on her.
“I’ll take your silence as a yes. Number one…I didn’t want Sam and Fang together.” Surprised, her eyes widened at his confession. The tabloids would pay good money for that juicy tidbit. “Didn’t think they were right for one another. Gave them a lot of hell for that.” He shrugged. “My accident—you heard about that, right?” At her nod, he went on. “It reminded me how short life is, so I gave them my blessing to be together.”
Fallon licked her lips, suspecting his sister hadn’t really needed his blessing to do what she wanted. “It was the right thing to do.”
A humorous glint sparkled in his eyes. “I’m not known for doing the right thing, darlin’. Like now.”
She frowned. “What do you mean?”
He adjusted his hand, sliding it along her ponytail, before burying his fingers into the coil of her strands beneath the snug grip of the rubber band. His other arm curled around her shoulders, drawing her tight against his frame. Her heart pounded in her ears, and he smelled good.
Jase nipped her bottom lip and at her sharp gasp, he took advantage and slid his tongue into her mouth. The cool minty taste of him verified he’d taken the time to brush his teeth.
Her eyelids fluttered shut, and she groaned upon his first contact, a slow drag of his tongue against hers. The immediate surge of wetness that drenched her panties scandalized her.
Her eyelids snapped open, and she spied him watching her. Fine lines creased the corners of his eyes. Again and again his tongue caressed hers, reminding her how he’d licked her breasts and between her legs.
More moisture dampened her panties, and her passage clenched in need. She compressed her thighs, but that action caused her ache to grow instead of abate as she’d intended. He withdrew from her mouth, and she almost botched stifling her groan of disappointment. Awed by the effect Jase asserted over her body, she stared at his lips. She’d lost all sense of restraint when he’d put them on her.
Just like the first time.
“You were the second thing I wanted last year.” He removed his arm from her shoulders and ran his thumb along her jaw. “I had private investigators search for you, but they repeatedly came up empty-handed.”
Stunned by the admission, she wasn’t sure what to make of it or if she even believed him. “Why’d you have P.I.’s looking for me?”
“Because you’re the one that got away.”
Jase looked serious. He didn’t flinch away from her direct stare. Didn’t grin, didn’t even blink. But the idea that she was ‘the one that got away’ was ludicrous…Fallon snorted, calling bullshit. She bet he said that to every woman he wanted to screw. While he could have his pick of women, she was a convenient lay.
I am no one’s dupe.
“This chick isn’t stupid enough to believe that line.”
A flash of hurt pinched his features. His mouth parted as if he’d say something, but he settled for shaking his head and dragging his fingers through his hair.
Their sultry spell demolished, she watched him, refusing to allow herself to regret her callous honesty. He could have any woman he wanted, but she wasn’t for sale.
Jase released his hold on her and picked up the keys and cell she’d dropped on the floor. He placed them on the counter and met her gaze dead-on. “You’re obviously not as intelligent as I thought you were either.”
