Synopsis:
Is love stronger than race?

The world is changing as we know it, the human race is dwindling, but so are the angels. In order to preserve their bloodlines they have bred with humans, creating a new race called Nephilim. But there is one race that is more endangered than humans or Seraphim, Archangels.
As most people believe the Archangels have become extinct, rumors surface of a Legend; that a baby was born out of flame, the offspring of an archangel.

Dyston Blackbell is tasked to find and protect this child. He sends her strange dreams in hope that she will find him. When he discovers that she has enrolled at his family’s angel academy in Melbourne, he will do anything to protect Scarlett. But when he finds himself falling for her the Heavenly realm rejects him.

But 21-year-old Scarlett Porter realizes that being half Archangel has some advantages. She has developed a unique trait, one that marks her as an Archangel. Will she keep it to herself or use it to fight back?

When an old enemy resurfaces, The Lucifites, Scarlett discovers that Dyston’s older brother Lakyn is at the helm of their sinister plans; to destroy the Nephilim race or use Scarlett for their own selfish purposes when they find out who she really is.

And when Lakyn discovers that Scarlett had only seduced him to rescue Dyston from his prison in the Realm of Light, it sends him on a journey of self-discovery and destruction. One that sees him venturing farther off course than his father would like. Will he choose a new life of love or his old life of darkness?

Beyond the Books Blog Tour: Hobbies Outside of Reading!

Blog hop banner: created by Frankie Rose

What's my favorite thing to do when not reading a good book? The answer is closely related to reading actually. One of the things I like most about reading is being able to escape and discover new things.

Traveling
I love to travel! At 21, I have some pretty cool places under my traveling belt, and funny enough, all my trips have been in the past four years and I've never taken a trip with my parents and/or brother.

The last place I visited was one I had wanted to visit my entire life:

New York City! The Big Apple! I was in NYC for four days at the beginning of October and got to see most of its most memorable destinations.

The trip I took before New York was to Arizona for a Romance Reader event. Sadly, I don't have any good pictures of the area, but the mountains were beautiful as we drove from the Pheonix airport to our destination.

The very first trip, and my biggest one, was during the summer of '09. I had just graduated high school and instead of getting money or some other type of gift from my parents, I got to go with my best friend and her mother on an amazing trip to England, Whales and Ireland.

One of the coolest places I got to visit while in England (sadly, I did not get to go to Stonehenge like I wanted to) was Shakespeare's birthplace. That's me in the garden outside the house. I also got to see where he lived when he was married.

My favorite part of this trip, besides Shakespeare, was all the castles we got to tour! This is one in Ireland.

Our hotel in Whales

In Ireland
On a mountain side in Ireland

I have two trips scheduled this summer. I'm going back to Arizona for Arizona Dreamin' and in August I'll be visiting Las Vegas, Nevada for several days! Other places I'd like to see in the future are: Paris, Rome, Greece, and many more!

*Fun fact: Though I love to travel, I'm not a big fan of planes.

Note* You need to subscribe by email to ALL of the participating blogs and to comment on the post their post the day of the tour.

Review: Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion

*This is one of several covers for this book*
Synopsis:
A zombie who yearns for a better life ends up falling in love—with a human—in this astonishingly original debut novel.

R is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. He doesn’t enjoy killing people; he enjoys riding escalators and listening to Frank Sinatra. He is a little different from his fellow Dead.

Not just another zombie novel, Warm Bodies is funny, scary, and deeply moving.

My Review:
This is the first Zombie book I've ever read. It's the only paranormal creature that I've avoided on purpose. I mean, who would want to read about dead people that eat brains and can't articulate worth a damn? To me, that didn't sound worth my money at all, let alone something I would enjoy.

I picked Warm Bodies up after I saw the trailer. I know that's the one thing fans of the book dread hearing. Well, in my case, I picked the book up because I know the book is always better than the movie. The trailer looked good, slightly cheesy, but good. Zombies that can cure themselves? That can become alive and fall in love again? That didn't sound so bad. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the twisted romance/post-apocalyptic mash up.

First off, let me say that the ending was slightly cheesy, but in a cute way. (Supposedly there is a sequel in the works- not sure how I feel about that. I personally think the book should be left as is- unless it is a really good sequel and knowing Isaac it will be.) However, Marion's unique and spectacular writing makes up for that and more. Holy cow. I don't usually toss around the word beautiful when it comes to the way some authors write, but I can honestly say that Isaac Marion's writing is beautiful, lovely, gorgeous, etc. The dialogue, especially R's parts was slightly weird to me because of all the broken up words and ellipses (which I understand is necessary because he is a zombie), but the things going on in his head really make the novel shine. Despite R's limited vocabulary, I fell for him. That's not an easy thing to do considering he's a zombie and until now I strongly disliked them.

One thing that scared me about this book is that I'm a tad squeamish and am not a horror fan at all. While this book was a tad gruesome at times, never once was I creeped out nor did I think anything was too disgusting. It's really well done and actually drew me into the story even further.

I think the best way to describe this book is to call it beautifully gruesome.
The reader will discover hidden meanings within the story about life and about humanity.

5/5

Dazzle Blog Tour: Excerpt and Spotlight

Synopsis:
Sixteen-year-old Delaney Scott possesses a special gift. Ever since she was a child she has known about her calling and the duty she’s expected to fulfill.
However, all Delaney wants is to be normal. That’s why she is drawn to Sam. He can offer her the life she’s always desired. Only Sam has secrets of his own.
Secrets that are deadly. Secrets that can change everything.

Excerpt:
My heart races, and I fight to keep my breath even. He turns to me. I lift my chin and he tilts his face toward mine. Our lips meet and I reach up to grab his neck. His mouth feels so good. Kissing him is nothing like kissing Micah. The times when Micah and I kissed it was comfortable and relaxing, like eating ice cream or watching my favorite movie. Kissing Sam is like riding a roller coaster or jumping off a cliff into freezing cold water. It’s explosive and wild and leaves me breathless. But it always leaves me wanting more.

Vampyre Kisses Blog Tour‏

Vampyre Kisses Excerpt
By: Elizabeth J. Kolodziej

After a half hour, I decided to sit down for a minute to catch my breath. I ordered a shot and a water to get some liquid into me, and searched around for Mac. He wasn’t visible anywhere over the mass of bobbing heads and twisting bodies. As I continued to look around, I noticed two men at a corner table observing the dancers. One of the men must have felt my eyes on him, because he turned to look at me. He gave me a half smile and got out of his seat to walk over to my table. A slower-paced song with a good beat came on. I looked up into his pale green eyes and he offered his hand. I took it, and he led me to the dance floor. He put his strong hands on my back and we moved to the music. His curly dark reddish-brown hair fell past his ears and framed his flawless oval face, complemented by deep-set round eyes and a pointed nose. He licked his thick lips and showed his perfect white teeth with a small smile. With my heels on, our eyes met perfectly opposite one another. His silk black shirt swayed back and forth as we moved. A few buttons were undone to show his smooth chest. Leather pants hung on his hips that pressed against my bare thighs at different points when we moved. We stared at each other during each song that played; I felt like a feather floating in the warm brisk air.
With a tap on my shoulder, I turned around to find Mac staring at me, then at the man. He put his lips to my ear: “I need to talk to you for a sec.” I turned back to the man and put one finger up to let him know I would be right back. He nodded, and I turned to follow Mac off the dance floor.
“That man is bad news,” he said, his lips next to my ear.

All Roads Lead To Hell Blog Tour: Excerpt & Giveaway!

"Genesis Queen"
Book 3 in ROAD TO HELL series
Coming December 18, 2012 to Decadent Publishing and online e-book stores

Victory is hollow when fate maneuvers one as a pawn.

Madison’s mission is complete. Nix is rescued from Hell and her son safe from his dark destiny. But as she rests in the safe harbor of Nix’s love, her demonic husband warns of a murderous plot. Can she trust that it’s the truth and not another scheme to claim her for Hell’s throne?

Sometimes internal conflict can house our biggest demons.

With allies divided and prophecy heralding defeat, Madison gambles on Micah’s tenuous honor to keep their son protected. Torn between her heart’s desires and her dark requirements, Madison worries her hellish fate cannot be avoided. When betrayal comes from an unlikely direction, all their futures may be damned. In the darkest hour of Madison’s life, an undeniable providence will transpire. Who can she trust? And how far will she fall to defeat her foes?

Amid the rubble of defeat, will Hell’s Genesis Queen dawn?

Genesis Queen Excerpt:
“I like the way you move, kitten.”
She took a deep breath, like she needed the extra oxygen to deal with him. “Did you square away the angels in Hell?”
“Yes.” Details weren’t necessary when they both knew he’d instituted a brutal torture regimen for all of them. “Dance with me?”
“To this music?”
“You didn’t appear to be having any problem.” He held his hand out toward her.
She stared at his palm. Her expression was reminiscent of an individual confident selling their soul was a reckless choice but entering the deal anyway.
“I don’t bite.”
Her gaze felt like an impact against his. “You did in Hell.”
He wrangled the grin under control. “Then I won’t bite.”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea, Micah.”
“Why?”
A casual shrug when nothing about her body language suggested she felt relaxed. She crossed her arms beneath her breasts. “Nix says my idea of dancing is sex with clothes on. He couldn’t tolerate it and if he couldn’t….” She trailed off and gaped at him as if she’d just realized she’d been about to insult him.
Micah grinned. “I haven’t lived as long as I have without executing restraint.” He stepped closer to her. “I’ve controlled myself with you more than any other.” Because she is my woman and deserves my respect.
Madison allowed him to pull her arms free of their defensive fold. Holding her gaze, Micah coaxed her into his embrace…left hip to left hip, his leg thrusting between her knees, gliding upward and parting her thighs.
She bit her bottom lip. Her breathing grew shallow. The heavy beat of the music thumped around them. His pulse throbbed faster.
Hell’s delights, she felt fantastic against him.
“Relax,” he said when she remained inflexible. A soft wind would break one of her bones. “I only want to dance with you.” Like when they’d been married, just a different manner of movement. This one more intimate than what they normally partook.
Her focus locked on his jaw, and she sharply inhaled when he slid his palm down her back and settled on her hips. He executed the first moves and she followed. As if magnetized, they gyrated in perfect synchronicity.
