Terry Spear: A Highland Werewolf Wedding!

Elaine Hawthorn is a gray American werewolf, currently out of work, and on a mission to share in a family treasure. When she arrives in Scotland, she nearly has a head-on collision with one hot, kilt-garbed Highlander, and runs him off the road.
Werewolf laird Cearnach MacNeill isn't happy Elaine ruined his car, but he quickly becomes her protector after a misunderstanding lands her right in the middle of two feuding clans. Now he's out to ensure that this sexy female wolf gets her fair share of her clan's treasure. He knows he should leave well enough alone, but it's too late to leave his heart out of it.

Juggling Werewolves and Jaguars
By
Terry Spear

You had no idea I juggled predators for a living, did you?

I am a multi-tasker extraordinaire with deadlines piled so high, it's hard to get a peek at the real world out there sometimes. But it's all worth it because I LOVE storytelling and that makes me happy and hopefully that makes you happy. Truly, when I've finished with a pile of deadlines, I feel kind of lost.

So today, this is my day—first, blog, twitter, FB, answer emails, critique student lessons, then…it's down to writing. One-thousand words a day, a must—but 10,000 per week, also a must, so some days it's more like 1,500. Or if I get lucky (because coming up with zingers of ideas can all have to do with luck), I can write more and slack off some days. Or finish the mss earlier.

Which do you think I opt for? Finishing the mss earlier! Of course!

I had finished some future blogs for sites I only have to post to once or twice a month, and then was only 140 words from making my goal today on Jaguar Heat, so I decided it was time to see the sun.

I took a book I'm judging in a contest (you see even when I'm having more fun, it's also deadline related), my pillow, and park myself on a bench out front. Yellow jackets galore! Usually we have a stiff wind or breeze, but nada. So the yellow jackets were buzzing all around me. After reading for a VERY short time, I packed it up and returned to the great outdoors as the TERMINATOR, hornet spray in hand.

Since a yellow jacket stung me last year—and it took nearly a month for the swelling to go down—I take terminating them seriously. No Ms. Nice Guy any longer. I used to ignore them and hoped they ignored me. Can of spray emptied, time to get back to work.

I wrote another guest blog—and I'm writing this one, which will be two more done of 16 I need to write. That leaves still seven left to go. Then it's time to go back to writing on Jaguar Heat.

So what's up with the juggling? Ah yes, I'm writing about Jaguar Heat and those hunky jaguars, but I'm also writing all these guest blogs about A Highland Werewolf Wedding and hunky Highland wolves for the May book tour for its release. In the meantime, I had requests for marketing materials for: Jaguar Heat and A Hero of a Highland Wolf (both spring releases, 2014!), and also for Mistletoe, Mayhem and the Highland Wolf (winter 2014 release!). Which meant writing a synopsis for each, and giving direction on what the cover should look like. AND in the middle all of this other stuff, I have edits to do on the books already turned in. Edits, Final Edits, Final Proofing. So once we turn the books in, that's not the end of it. We keep getting them back! :)

The marketing materials request means: BOOK COVERS! And Sourcebooks does such a beautiful job on them I can't wait to show them off.

So there you have it! I'm juggling two big fierce predators—jaguars and wolves…of the shifter variety. And…myriads of other stuff, as other duties as assigned.

That's what I do for a living. Cool, right?

I love what I do! So my question to you is, are you ready for another hunky Highland wolf? Cearnach is so ready for you!

  6. How in the world do you keep everything straight? I think most people would need at least two personal assistants to keep up with all that craziness! Although, I am really glad you keep up with all that craziness, so THANK YOU for that!

I just finished Duncan's story. I love the Highland Wolves, but I have fallen behind! I gotta get my butt in gear with this reading thing!

Duncan's story was amazing, of course! I am happy to say it has motivated me into really working towards that Scotland/Ireland vacation I've been wanting to take. It is in the planning stage...LOL.

Keep up the great work, and I'll get working on that reading thing while you keep doing the writing thing! :)

  10. Terry, you always have so much on your plate. I don't see how you keep it all straight. I have truely enjoyed your wolf series, and I can't wait for Cearnach's story. I have already read a Howl for a Highlander, and it was fab!

  11. LOL, Heather!!!! I soooo agree! I just realized I hadn't been on another blog to comment at all. I feel soooo badly!!! And here I took off the day to goof off when there was work to be done!!!

I'm so thrilled you enjoyed Duncan's story. Oh, yeah, you've got to get there!!!!! The castle that I mention in Cearnach's story was on the North Sea and I LOVED it. We saw 7 castles but that was my favorite of all of them. Though the gardens of another were gorgeous and I loved the one on the Loch Ness. :) Okay, it's a deal. Read and I'll get another one ready for you!

    Jmcgaugh, I sooo agree!!!!

Phyllis, thanks so much. Luscious, that's the word!!! Thanks, on the FB, and I have sooo much fun juggling them. But you know what happens? One of these days they're going to run into each other. Betcha. It's just hard to keep them separated for too long. You know how it is! :)

Stephanie, I had so much fun taking off a day today to celebrate finishing Jaguar Hunt. :) I took pictures of the jaguar at the zoo, and just plain had fun. :) But I also wrote part of the first scene for A Hero of a Highland Wolf. They're getting off to a rocky start--Grant MacQuarrie and Colleen Playfair. Can you imagine??? :)

  17. This is a great book and series! I love the interaction between Elaine and Cearnach. This is one of my favorites. How can you go wrong when you combine Scotland, a kilted warrior,a feisty american women, and wolves. That equals a great adventure. You always make each story new and fresh.

  18. Thanks so much, Loretta! I'm really glad you're enjoying them. You just can't go wrong with that combo. I'm really having fun with the next Highland wolf story. I wanted to start it out with the men all wearing kilts. Only this time they're going to be shirtless. Sword fighting. Castle. Yep. :) The only way to go. :) And here comes the heroine who is supposed to be shaken to the core....but...
