Blog Tour: Reaped by Gracen Miller & Tina Carreiro!

WARNING: This is a work of fiction. Reaped is told through the eyes of the dark side. We understand the mythical and religious spin within this book may be hard for some to read. So if you fit that mold, please don’t be tempted to open the book. If suspending belief is something you have a hard time with when religious aspects are involved, please refrain from reading. This work of fiction is not to be taken seriously. This book was written from our creative view and intended for entertainment purposes only. The book was not written to be incendiary or inflammatory. So before you pass judgment, remember, that’s reserved for God.
God ordered her to reap him…
Forged by her father’s hand to reap at His command, Solas was God’s most skilled Reaper. Killing on command, she had never questioned His directives—until now. Too bad Loki’s heart isn’t as black as she’s been led to believe. That would make her job easy. But she cannot dismiss the goodness she senses inside him. Bewildered by her attraction to Loki, she still craves returning home, but knows the only way back into her homeland is to obey God’s order. As the lines between allies and enemies are blurred, she questions who is weaving the biggest deception… the legendary trickster god or her own father?
But she can’t bring herself to swing her blade.
From the moment she fell at his feet, Loki mistrusted Solas. His intentions were simple, to use her and send her on her way. Then he discovered she was cast out of her homeland after defying her father’s order to reap him. Intrigued by a woman that would stand against the supreme God, Loki offers her his temporary protection while nursing his skepticism. Many warriors from the heavens have been sent to kill him, but only one has come this close. She’s the perfect weapon. A threat not just to his life, but also to his family and everything he stands for. He should take her life, but he craves protecting her and the secret she harbors more.
When you send a reaper to kill a god, don’t give her a reason to rebel.
A tentative alliance between Loki and Solas is brokered, but misunderstandings strain their fragile relationship. Battles are won and lost, but can Solas escape her father’s will? Faced with hard choices, Loki will have to decide what’s important to him. Or can he pull off the ultimate trick and win their freedom?

“This the real you?” She made a circling motion about her face and then pointed at him.
“Yeah.”
“Better.”
A devilish grin tugged at his lips. His green eyes were the one constant until they fizzled with a touch of purple as they skimmed her exposed legs. If she’d seen that two years ago when she first stalked him, she’d have known he wasn’t the human Ryan Sinclair she’d been ordered to kill. Had she known, she’d probably have reaped him as she’d been ordered.
“That shirt looks much better on you than it ever did on me.”
His words startled her back to the present. Uncomfortable beneath his scrutiny, she fiddled with the collar and looked about his kitchen, anything to keep from making eye contact. “I have no idea where my clothes are.”
“You need new ones. Sit.” His palm touched her lower back.
When had he approached? He guided her toward a chair. After she settled into the seat, she ran her fingertip along the top of the table. She’d lost everything and regained her life while strapped to the glossy wood.
“Table brings back fond memories, huh?”
Stunned by his forthrightness, she shot a glance at him. His hawkish gaze seemed to gauge her mood.
Solas swallowed past the sudden lump in her throat. “I’m unsure if they’re fond—”
“You’re sure, but in the morning light, you’re second guessing everything.”
“I’ve made unwise choices lately.”
He flashed her a grin, and his voice held a note of something she couldn’t identify. “Regret not murdering me for your daddy now?”
“It’s what I’ve done for millennia without question. Instead, I disregard his commands and give you my chastity.” Recognizing the volatile buzz surrounding him, she held his penetrating stare and still gave him the truth. “I repeat: Unwise choices.”
Running his finger across his bottom lip, Loki nodded and perused the enormous selection of fare. Without warning, his foot connected with the leg of her chair, and he shoved her away from the table with a screech of wood against tile. He knocked her off balance when he caught her hips and jerked her to the edge of the seat, as he went to his knees. She tried to adjust her position but was diverted when he buried his face between her legs.
His tongue licked through her folds, and she arched her back, crying out at the insane pleasure. Nothing should feel this good. It was no wonder Father forbid indulging in sexual activity.
Loki wrapped his hands around her thighs, adjusted her to his satisfaction, and immobilized her into position against his face. As he swiped his tongue through her, she trembled each time he connected with her clit. She buried her hand in his dark-brown hair to anchor him to her, while tilting her head against the back of the chair and losing herself in the erotic sensation of his tongue.
Solas rocked her hips against him in a quest to reach the shattering she must have. She coveted them as surely as she ever had manna, more than she ever had Father’s approval. Her belly cramped as her loins pulsated, and she gladly anticipated the cataclysmic release.
Loki moved away from her flesh, and she groaned at the death of her climax. He dragged his mouth across the inside of her thigh, smearing her juices all over her skin. She waited for him to get back to business. When he didn’t, she lifted her head from the chair and looked at him.
A smile chock full of depravity appeared on his lips. “I own you, Solas. The sooner you admit that, the easier this relationship will become.”
Her jaw dropped, and she dragged in a breath to flay him with her tongue, but he shifted upward and cut off anything she’d have said with his mouth on hers. His tongue speared inside and laved against hers. Solas gripped the chair to keep from pulling him closer.
Their kiss ended, and he dragged his mouth across hers in a feather-light caress, continuing onward across her cheek and to her ear. He whispered, “We have a deal. You are mine. I won’t allow you to renege.”
He moved away, striding across the kitchen to the counter. Solas worked at reorienting her libido as he poured two mugs of dark liquid.
“A deal with the devil,” she mumbled beneath her breath. What had she been thinking? She’d hoped she hadn’t made the pact she feared she had.
“I’m certainly no angel.” He plunked sugar into one mug and flashed her a depraved grin. “Fallen or otherwise.”

Review: Deceit in Bloom by Jennifer Michael!

Cautionary tales don’t usually have happy endings…
Raised in foster care. The sister of a whore. The fool who fell for the wrong guy.
Paisley James is all too aware that sometimes fairy tales just don’t exist.
There is no telling where hearts belong or loyalties lie when deceit is in bloom.
Author Note: Deceit in Bloom is book one of a series and ends in a BIG, dramatic cliffhanger (No joke). The story continues in book two, Vengeance in Bloom.

The end of this book killed me. Okay, not really, but the cliffhanger is pretty intense. I foresee a major book hangover following this book. The ending leaves the reader with so many different questions and possibilities, it's enough to make your head spin. To say I am eagerly anticipating book two is an understatement.

This book was amazing. It's honestly one of the best debut novels I've ever read. I flew through it quickly and enjoyed every second of it. The writing style was really enjoyable and I'm glad we had dual points of view. I like that the two main characters are so vastly different. I loved learning what was going on in their heads and seeing their character growth throughout the novel. I'm seriously hoping book two will be out soon because I can't wait to see what happens next for these characters.

One of my favorite things about this story is that none of the characters are perfect. Everyone has some type of baggage or dark past. It makes for a novel that is both dark and twisted. (But not too much!) All the characters are so intriguing. I want to learn more about them all and enjoyed learning about their past and what has made them into who they are. (Especially Kai and Teagan. I think there's something going on there.)

I know I'm reading a great writer when the story I'm reading is perfectly balanced. This story is complex. There are so many intricate pieces that come together within this novel. Mystery, suspense, drama, romance. There are serious issues addressed: drugs, prostitution, abuse. Not one of these aspects were overdone or didn't belong. And I also found it refreshing that all of these things were within the story. It's nice to have a book that's gritty and honest and hard to read at times.  There are a lot of suspenseful elements that drive the story. The author gives the reader enough to keep you satisfied, yet keep you in the dark at the same time. It makes for a truly addicting story.

I recommend this one to anyone looking for a great debut novel with a lot of complex elements. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, keep you guessing and you'll love every minute of it.
