Aubrie grew up watching the original Star Wars movies over and over again until she could recite and reenact every single scene in her backyard. She also loved The Goonies, Star Trek the Next Generation-favorite character was Data by far-, and Indiana Jones. But, her all time favorite movie was The Last Unicorn. She still wonders why the unicorn decided to change back to a unicorn in the end.

Aubrie wrote in her junior high yearbook that she wanted to be "A concert flutist" when she grew up. When she made that happen, she decided one career was not enough and embarked as a fantasy, sci fi author. Two careers seems to keep her busy. For now.

Now for the professional bio:

Aubrie Dionne is an author and flutist in New England. Her writings have appeared in Mindflights, Niteblade, Silver Blade, Emerald Tales, Hazard Cat, Moon Drenched Fables, A Fly in Amber, and Aurora Wolf. Her books are published by Entangled Publishing, Lyrical Press, and Gypsy Shadow Publishing. She recently signed her YA sci fi novel with Inkspell Publishing titled: Colonization: Paradise Reclaimed, which will release in October 2012. When she's not writing, Aubrie teaches flute and plays in orchestras. She's a big Star Trek TNG fan, as well as Star Wars and Serenity.

A drone, as deep and low as the growl of a primordial beast, resonated in my gut and I yanked my hand away. My heart sped like someone had fired a starter gun to a race, and my chest tightened until I couldn’t breathe.

That blaring blasphemy wasn’t from my ship.

The sound tapered off, leaving me in silence. I stared at the bones, wondering if I’d imagined it, or if I should hide here in the ruins in case the sound came back.

What am I doing? I’m a team expedition leader, for crying out loud!

I pulled myself back together. Everyone else was attending the ceremony on the ship. The thick hull, designed to protect us from deep space, blocked all sounds from the outside world. I was the only one who would have heard it. The only one who could investigate. I thought about going back for help, but every second I delayed, the source of the sound could disappear. Besides, I didn’t want the credit taken away from me. Not this time.

I scrambled to the window and climbed over the ledge, throwing myself down so fast my ankles exploded in pain. Cursing, I hobbled up the embankment of the excavation site. The sound boomed around me, vibrating the crystals underneath my feet. I fell to my knees and covered my ears. It reminded me of warping metal, growling monsters, and screeching alarms all at the same time.

The sound came from the jungle. I pulled myself up the incline and peered over the edge. A dry, fiery breeze blew my hair back, and I looked above the rustling canopy.

My heart stammered then beat into a frenzy. A massive ring of a ship, twice as large as the New Dawn, hovered over the jungle. Spires jutted from the top and the bottom, like a two-sided pin cushion. Blinking reddish lights adorned the ends. The hull was a dull gray shield of impenetrable metal with no sight panels or markings of any kind.

The buzzing sound made my eardrums throb. I pressed my nose up against the crystal ledge and peered over as my whole body shook. The lowest spire, thick as a nuclear reactor, lengthened from the belly of the ship until the tip hovered a meter from the jungle canopy. A trap door opened, and a beam of white light seared a hole in the foliage. The smell of burnt vines choked my throat, and I cowered against the side of the ledge.
I have to warn the ship.

This was the first time I've ever read something from this author. Normally, I'm not really into this genre, but I really enjoyed this book. I think the main reasons I liked it so much were how different it was from the few things I have read in this genre. Plus, I love space, so it enhanced the 'like' factor for this book. Colonization was very much a page turner. I would definitely read this author again!

The Wild Queen:
“Look at that.” Aiden motioned needlessly. She’d already caught Lucien’s eye.
They’d broken through the trees near King Robert’s castle. Below them a single rider raced across the green field. They watched as she pulled the drawstring of her bow and fired into the thick grass, catching a rabbit in the chest. She slowed her horse and slid off its back in one fluid motion, and bent to pick up her prize. A second rider came up behind her and she tossed it to him.
She shouldered her bow and regained the saddle, but before she could turn the horse away, she stopped and looked in their direction. Lucien couldn’t see how she sensed their presence. They sat on the rise overlooking the valley, and were still shaded by the forest behind them.
He felt her gaze pierce him to the core, but she didn’t linger. She shared something with her companion, who also glanced their way, and then they both shot off in the direction of the castle.
Lucien suddenly became aware of the men behind him, waiting patiently for their king to give the order to proceed. He looked at Aiden. “Let’s go. I’m suddenly weary to reach our destination.”
“Yes, Sire.” Aiden smiled at him.
They met a large group of Norvallen soldiers outside the village. The leader stopped in front of Lucien. “I am Corvall, Norvallen Master of Arms.”
“I am Lucien Gildresleve, King of Demarde,” he said. “King Robert is expecting me.”
Corvall frowned. “Not for another five days.”
Lucien smiled thinly. “We made good time.”
This explanation evidently didn’t appease the soldier. He grunted and said, “Very well. We will escort you to the castle.”
Aiden moved alongside Lucien as they followed Corvall. “He seems friendly.”
“Don’t antagonize him,” Lucien said. “We’re on a diplomatic mission, remember?”
“I remember we were invited,” said Aiden. “We don’t treat guests like this.”
“We’re not constantly attacked.”
Aiden slid his hand to his sword. “Perhaps he needs a lesson in manners.”
Lucien spoke softly. “I forbid you to brain the Master of Arms.”

“Then perhaps I’ll just take him behind the stables and nicely request he treat my king with more deference,” Aiden said just as softly.

Book Spotlight: Warrior's Revenge by Coreene Callahan!

After the death of her parents, Lady Aurora de Marquise is left with no illusions. Stripped of her birthright and betrayed by her uncle, escape is her only option. With her life on the line, she narrowly avoids another murder attempt—only to run headlong into Lord Brigham de Mornay, a man most consider a monster. With her uncle’s henchmen nipping at her heels, Aurora knows better than to trust a stranger—especially one as compelling as Brigham. Well-honed instincts urge her to flee before his abundant charm takes a nasty turn into aggression—and she ends up neck deep in trouble. Wary, but undeniably drawn to him, Aurora pits her will against his, challenging his authority every chance she gets. But when her uncle manages to track her, the game of fox and hound takes a perilous turn and she is left with the ultimate choice—surrender to the man who now holds her heart or risk it all trying to escape again. Gritty and fast-paced, Warrior’s Revenge brings to life the magnificence of the medieval age while exploring the meaning of honor, duty, and nature of true love. When Aurora de Marquise escapes her vicious uncle and fells one of the most powerful barons in all of England, she knows she’s bitten off more than she can chew. Only one question remains…who will reach her first—the warrior hell-bent on revenge or the uncle determined to see her dead?

Blog Tour: Rapture's Edge by J.T. Geissinger!

Night Prowler, #1

Available at:  Amazon

Deep within the primeval forests of southern England, a race of beautiful, savage shape-shifters lives hidden from the everyday world. Bound together by ancient bloodlines and a ruthless code of secrecy that punishes traitors with death, the Ikati send their leader Leander on a mission to capture one raised outside the tribe before she can expose their secret. When Leander tracks the unsuspecting outsider to Southern California, the hardened warrior is prepared for a fight—but not for the effect the sensual young beauty has on his heart.
Jenna spent her childhood in hiding, on the run from someone—or something—her parents refused to discuss. She trusts no one, not since her father’s mysterious disappearance, not since her mother’s sudden death, and definitely not since she began exhibiting strange, superhuman abilities. When handsome, enigmatic Leander appears, promising answers to the mysteries that shroud her past, she knows she shouldn’t trust him either. But their connection is undeniable, and as powerful as the enemy hell-bent on destroying every one of their kind…

Night Prowler, #2

Available at:  Amazon

There exists a world beyond our own. It is a world of ancient magic and well-guarded secrets, a world of strict laws and harsh punishments for those who betray them, a world inhabited by the Ikati, a race of gifted people who are so much more than they first appear. Brought together by fate in this world of danger and beauty, two people with dark pasts will meet.
Morgan is beautiful, smart, sexy…and about to die. Convicted of treason against her shape-shifting kin, she is given one last chance at redemption; discover the hidden lair of the enemy intent on destroying every one of her kind, or forfeit her life.
Xander is ruthless, heartless, cold-blooded…and assigned to kill her if she fails in her task. Expecting to feel nothing but contempt for the traitor under his watch, the assassin accompanies Morgan on her search, but as the two race through the heart of Italy while the clock winds down to zero hour, he finds himself drawn into a dangerous web of desire as powerful as it is forbidden. Their passion will test everything they believe in, and endanger the future of the tribe itself.

Night Prowler, #3

Available June 18 at:  Amazon

SECRETS…In the hidden world that exists beside our own, a mirror world of ancient magic and elegant deceptions, a world of people who are so much more than they first appear, a war is brewing. Most of these Gifted people—the Ikati, a savage, sensual race of lethal predators—are content to hide behind human smiles, disguising their splendor in order to survive. But others are discontent. And they will hide no longer.
BETRAYALS…Eliana lives for two things only: vengeance on the man who killed her father, and seeing his dream of living in the open with humans come to pass. But that dream is far too dangerous for The Hunt, a group of elite Ikati assassins with one objective: eliminate her before she can expose their secrets to the world.
SEDUCTION…Demetrius is haunted by the memory of the woman he once loved. He will risk everything to save her from the killers on her tail…and convince her, before the ancient walls between two worlds crumble, that only together can they defeat their real enemy, a brilliant, cunning traitor far more deadly than either of them can guess.

J.T. Geissinger’s debut novel, Shadow’s Edge, was published in 2012 and was a #1 Amazon US and UK bestseller in fantasy romance and romance series. She has been nominated for the prestigious RITA® award from the Romance Writers of America for best paranormal romance for her second book in the Night Prowler series, Edge of Oblivion.
A life-long lover of reading and a self-professed “book addict,” she didn’t realize her dream of writing a novel until a milestone birthday forced her to take stock of her goals in life. Always believing the right time to commit to putting pen to paper would magically announce itself, it took waking up one cold January morning with a shiny new zero as the second number in her age to kick start her determination.
Starting on that very day, she wrote what would become Shadow’s Edge in a little over four months and submitted it to several literary agents. Nothing happened. Thinking that was the end of that but by no means willing to give up on her dreams of being published, she began work on a second manuscript.
Then, during a trip to Italy in honor of their 10th wedding anniversary and the honeymoon she and her husband never took, she received an email that would change her life. It was from an agent, Marlene Stringer of Stringer Literary, and it contained the three words every aspiring author longs to hear: “I loved it.”
Marlene sold the manuscript to Montlake Romance who published it six months later. Hitting the #1 Amazon bestseller lists within weeks of publication, Shadow’s Edge was book one of the Night Prowler novels. Book two, Edge of Oblivion, was published in October 2012 and will be followed by Rapture’s Edge in June 2013, and Edge of Darkness in fall 2013. There are six books total planned for the series.

Tell my fans a little bit about yourself and your books.
I’m the kind of person you’ll meet at a party, spend an hour talking to, then afterward realize you’ve told me your entire life story and you don’t know much about me other than my name. I think other people’s lives are fascinating, which is probably why I write books and create characters!

My novels are what’s termed “dark paranormal,” meaning there’s plenty of drama, sex, violence and conflict before I let the characters get to their HEA. If you like JR Ward, Anne Rice, Game of Thrones, True Blood or Dexter, you might enjoy my style.

How would you introduce your books to someone that has yet to read them?
The Night Prowler series is a lavish, brutal fantasy romance mixing the tone of True Blood, royal intrigue of Twilight’s Volturi, and Christian conspiracies of The Da Vinci Code. It revolves around the Ikati, a race of beautiful, savage shape-shifters who live in seclusion in isolated colonies around the world. Bound by primeval bloodlines and a code of law that values secrecy and allegiance above all else, they have been hunted since the Inquisition by the Expurgari, an ancient order of assassins aligned with the Catholic Church.

What inspired you to start writing? What age did you start?
I was inspired to start writing by a terrible tragedy; my 40th birthday. I woke up that day and realized it was high time to get crackin’ on that novel I’d always assumed I’d write – starting that day I wrote what would become Shadow’s Edge, the first book in the series.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?

My husband and I own a flower shop, so I spend a lot of time there, designing flowers, dealing with customers, etc. I also love to read, hang out with friends, try new restaurants, see movies, and avoid housework at all costs.

What advice would you give to an aspiring author?

Don’t give up. Believe in yourself. Write even when you don’t feel like it, and write only what you really love and what excites you, not what you think might be popular at the moment. Don’t ever listen to anyone who tells you that you “can’t” because you can-you just have to believe you can, and work your ass off toward your goal.

What's the hardest thing about writing?

I’ll let you in on  a little secret: writing is not hard work. Compared to most other jobs, writing is very easy, but authors will never tell you that because they want you to think writing is only something people who went to college and got Masters degrees in English Lit can do. The worst part about being published is getting a bad review, but other than that I think writing is absolutely the best job in the world. You can do it anywhere, you’re in total control of what happens, it’s extraordinarily fulfilling to have people read and appreciate your work…being an author is a dream job, and I consider myself incredibly lucky.

What are you currently reading?
I just finished Me Before You, by JoJo Moyes, one of the best books I’ve read in years. It’s a story about a young woman who goes to work for a wealthy paraplegic man, and falls in love with him. There’s only one problem: he’s planning on killing himself. It’s incredible, heart-wrenching, and really well written. I highly recommend it!

What are you currently working on?
I’m just starting the fifth book in the Night Prowler universe, titled Darkness Bound, which is due in  3 ½ months…and I have no idea what it’s going to be about. I let the characters tell me what they want to do as I go along, so there’s always a lot of surprises!

What books did you read as a child?
Everything. I was a huge book worm. I loved VC Andrews Flowers in the Attic series.

How has your life changed since you began writing?

I’m happier, and also more stressed out, if that makes any sense. Publishing deadlines are iron-clad, so writing on a schedule is imperative. I’ve also been forced to be more extroverted and share personal things about myself (like in interviews!) which totally goes against my nature, but I’m learning to talk about myself without wanting to dive into the nearest bush and hide.

Do you listen to music while you write?
Never – in fact I can’t have any noise of any kind, it makes me crazy. I compile a soundtrack in my head as I’m writing, songs that I’m currently listening to on my ipod or in the car, and put that together after the book is finished so the reader can listen to music that I feel accompanies the tone and theme of the book.

What's been your favorite moment as an author?

Being nominated for a RITA award for Best Paranormal Romance from the Romance Writers of America was an incredible feeling. It’s awesome to be recognized for your work.

Out of all of your characters, who is your favorite?
The heroine in book four in the series, Edge of Darkness, which won’t be released until the fall of this year. Her name is September Jones (Ember) and she’s deeply flawed and physically scarred and goes through some tremendous changes. I want to know her in real life.

What do you want readers to take away from your books?

There are big themes in my books. Xenophobia. Social segregation. Human corruption and morality. The interdependence of man and animal. The futility of revenge. I want readers to look beyond the romance and see the thread that runs through all the books, the message that humans are often anything but humane, and the fact that only kindness can counter cruelty.

What is your dream vacation destination?
I just returned from two weeks sailing on a catamaran in the Caribbean, and that was my favorite vacation so far in my life. Next I’d like to go to Barcelona and the south of France.

Do you have any interesting dreams or goals?
I want to live to be 100. I want to swim with dolphins. I want to be like Nora Roberts and have over 400 million copies of my books in print. I could go on and on, but you’d get super bored.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Getting a face lift. LOL.

Where can fans find you?
