Would he take her job?
Owen looked back towards the person she had surreptitiously pointed out, a huge dark-haired man loitering in one of the many corners of the crowded club but not completely swathed in shadows.
His blood began a slow boil at the thought that the man had ambushed Cait just two hours ago, making her have to fight to escape and injuring her in the process. The shifter was exactly the sort of mark he had gone after countless timesóa male who thought that females could be subjugated and were put on this planet for their pleasure, created to be at their beck and call.
Little more than a slave.
He narrowed his eyes on the male as the immense shifter looked at him, holding his steady gaze and showing him that he might have Cait running, but he wouldnít get the same reaction out of him.
Owen had put down plenty of his kind.
This male would be just another misogynistic bastard to add to his tally.
He dragged his gaze back to Cait where she sat opposite him, all of her confidence gone, leaving behind a woman who looked smaller and vulnerable to him.
In need of his protection.
He had only just met her, but he didnít like seeing her this way, the light disappeared from her eyes and all of the brightness gone from her face as she waited to hear what he would say.
ìIíll take it.î Owen offered his hand and she slipped hers into it, her palm soft against his and sending a warm thrill chasing up his arm.
He shook her hand and then released her, leaned down and swiped his black satchel from the floor. Caitís blue eyes followed his every move and widened slightly when he removed his tablet device from his bag and flipped the cover open. He set his bag down on his lap, and the tablet on top of it, and tapped the icon that would start up the database he had created.
The basic program filled the bright screen and he tapped on the search function and selected cat shifters from the list of species. There were so many cat shifter species that he had given them their own category separate from other shifters.
While it loaded all of the shifters he had documented, Owen flagged Sherry down. If he was going to deal with jumping straight into another job, one that might be beyond his skill level, he was going to need another drink.
Sherry bounced along the length of the bar to him, her blonde ponytail swaying with each step.
ìHellfire?î she said with a smile and he grimaced and shook his head.
ìSomething a little less liable to kill me this time. Two vodkas, on ice. Make it the good stuff.î
Sherry nodded and left to make his drinks. The screen on his tablet changed, snagging his attention. He swiped up the screen, scrolling through all the cat shifters he had documented, pausing only long enough to pay Sherry when she returned. She set the drinks down, took his money, and disappeared along the bar.
Owen pushed one of the glasses across to Cait. Her eyes were glued to his tablet, the screen lighting her face as she leaned across, closer to him, her head at an angle.
ìThese are all shifters youíve met?î She ran her gaze over the pictures he had managed to snap of the shifters in secret from a safe distance and hooked her long dark hair behind her ears, pulling it away from her face. ìIt says two thousand three hundred and twelve results.î
He nodded. ìThatís how many cat shifters Iíve come across. Not all of them are alive now.î
She leaned away from him, a frown marring her brow. ìYou think heís in there?î
Owen shrugged. ìHe sounds like the type who might have a rep. I might have come across him before. Thereís something familiar about him.î
He swigged his vodka and altered the parameters of the search to male and height in the six-foot-three to six-foot-six range.
The results came back quicker this time, down to only eight hundred and twenty two.
Cait looked impressed and scanned the page as he scrolled. He was almost at the bottom of the list when she jammed her finger against an entry.
ìThatís him.î Her touch brought the record up and she snatched her hand back and blinked at the screen.
Owen had the impression that she didnít get out of Hell much. ìNever seen a tablet before?î
ìI have,î she said, a hint of indignation in her tone. ìI just havenít touched one. I wasnít expecting it to do that.î
He smiled as she peered closer to the device, her gaze flitting around the screen.
ìYouíre certain this Marius fellow is him?î Owen waited for her to nod before going back to work.
ìMarius,î she murmured, still staring at the photograph on the screen. ìI think I remember someone shouting that at him once.î
He double-tapped the part of the entry where it had the male down as a panther shifter and corrected it. The notes on the sources of information mentioned that eyewitnesses in a Nepal village high in the mountains in snow leopard territory had described him as a black cat. Owen had presumed he was a black panther. He probably hadnít even considered the male could be a hellcat.
ìI donít have much on him.î But what he did have was enough to ring some warning bells in his head.
The male followed similar patterns to other fae he had tracked, travelling from one prime location for rare species to another. Nepal. Brazil. Northern India. Siberia. All places with rare cat shifters.
Owen studied Cait as she stared at the tablet.
He had a feeling she might be in serious danger but he didnít want to spook her by telling her that the male after her probably dealt in the black market. They were both hellcats. There was an equal chance that Cait was right and Marius wanted her as a mate.
Until he had investigated the male further and had more information on him, Owen would keep his suspicions to himself.
He closed the cover of his tablet device and put it back in his bag.
ìI donít go into things blind. I need more information. I think we should go somewhere quieter to discuss the job and so you can fill me in on everything you knowÖ maybe away from your admirer.î Owen took his drink and smiled at her, raising the glass at the same time, hoping the male was still watching them.
If luck was with him, Marius wouldnít know who he was and would think he was just another mortal in the bar flirting with Cait. A harmless male looking for a good time.
He instantly hardened in his black jeans, his body issuing a painful reminder that it wasnít wholly a lie. He was looking for a good time with Cait. Her flirting had revved him up, filling his head with thoughts of finding a dark corner and making out with her.
Okay, making out was a little too innocent sounding for what he had in mind, but it had been a while since he had been as attracted to someone as he was to her. Heck, he wasnít sure he had ever been this attracted to anyone. He had always kept his dalliances short and sweet, a periodic scratching of a biological itch, but something about Cait had him firing on all cylinders and thinking in terms longer than a single hot and heavy moment.
He was thinking in terms longer than multiple hot and heavy moments. Nights were involved. Many of them. As many as she would give him.
More than they might have together when working on her job.
He emptied his glass to kill that thought with the alcohol and set it back down on the bar.
ìWhere do you want to go?î She sipped her drink, a genuine smile playing on her lips and the fire back in her eyes. It sent a bolt of hot lust through him again and he grimaced and shifted on his seat, trying to get more comfortable as his jeans pinched his groin.
ìMy place.î It came out a little harder and more demanding, and definitely more hungry than he had intended.

Release Blast: Tears of Crimson by Michelle Hughes!

Tears of Crimson
By- Michelle Hughes
Genre- Paranormal Romance

Tears of Crimson, the New Orleans Vampire Bar.

I was only fifteen the first time he found me.  I say he found me because I hadn't been looking for him... yet there he was when I closed my eyes. When my mother was declared insane, the only person I had left in the world was Granny Louise.  Even though she was good to me, I was a target for bullies, ones that were convinced that the apple never fell far from the tree.  I was tired of my life, tired of a world that fostered such heartache and pain.

Rafe changed things.

He salvaged what was left of my will to live.  Those six years became my lifeline.  He opened my eyes to passion, shared a world with me that was so vivid that I could still hear his words in my ears, and the ghost of his touch on my skin when I woke up.

Now that my world has seemingly fallen apart, the only place I can think of going is where my dreams took place- New Orleans.  Rafe and I have walked those streets in my fantasies.  Somehow, I feel like that's where I can find my salvation, my purpose.

What frightens me is, now that I've stepped in Tears of Crimson, a part of me is starting to believe that some dreams are meant to be lived.

We have been dying to bring you the Release Blitz for Jennifer L. Armentrout's THE RETURN! THE RETURN is a New Adult Paranormal Romance and is a part of Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Titan Series. Seth is looking to be just as dangerously delicious as we all hoped!!

The Return - Cover

The Fates are cackling their bony asses off... It's been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they've given him have been violent and bloody--which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He's got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet. Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy's deal might be, but it's a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her. But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all. Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

I was a half-blood, but I was also the Apollyon, a child of a pure and a half, a union that had been forbidden for thousands of years because an Apollyon was more powerful than any pure or half could ever hope to be.
And I always got to the traitors’ hideouts before they did, so the Sentinels were usually left with the cleanup, which I was sure absolutely thrilled them.

The first to enter was a female half-blood dressed just as I was. Her black hair was pulled back in a neat little knot at the top of her head. She was older, probably in her mid-thirties. It was pretty rare for a Sentinel to live that long. Her dark skin paled as she stopped just inside the entrance. She clenched titanium daggers in her hands like she expected something vicious to pop out from under the bloody mess.

The female Sentinel tipped her chin up, and the overhead light sliced across her broad cheekbones. She bore a jagged scar under her right eye, the skin lighter in tone. She saw me and froze. My smile widened.
Behind her, another Sentinel rushed in, almost mowing her over. He saw me and whispered, “Seth.”

He’d said my name like I was the monster under his bed, and I sort of liked that. Then another Sentinel and another rolled in. The fifth took one look at my interior design work and keeled over. Slamming his hands on his knees, he hurled up his dinner.

 Nice.

Our society existed completely unknown to the average mortal and had operated under what was known as the Breed Order for thousands of years. The Order had been dismantled, which meant halfs were no longer forced to choose between becoming Sentinels—hunting down violent creatures, protecting pures, enforcing laws, and otherwise usually dying pretty damn quickly on the job—or servants, which was a job that really wasn’t a job, but more like slavery. Since then, many pampered pures had signed on to be Sentinels, making up for the loss of the halfs who’d pretty much said “screw this shit, I’m out.”

This wasn’t necessarily a good thing.

For example, the dumbass puking all over my blood-covered floor was a pure. When he straightened, his face a greenish hue, he backed away, shaking his head. “I can’t,” he gasped out. “I can’t do this.”

Then he turned and hauled ass out the doors.
I sighed. This was why we couldn’t have nice things.

Release Day Blast: Hell's Phoenix by Gracen Miller!

RELEASES
February 15, 2015

Road to Hell series #2

Hells become more than just a playground for the wicked...
Going to Hell was supposed to save Madison, but knowing she’s dead because of his failure leaves Nix with only one thing to live for. Revenge. With Micah’s help he learns to use his Messianic power. Anything for Mads has become his mantra, even if it means killing innocents to gather the power he needs to succeed. A tsunami he unleashes on a Gulf Coast city is stopped with magical interference, and Nix is more than surprised to feel Madison in the opposing magic. Can he and Micah set a trap to lure her out?
Pandoras Box...once you open it, there's no turning back!
Madison has done the unthinkable, opened Pandora’s Box to save Nix from Hell. And failed. She’s willing to risk her own life to rescue Nix, but she worries about the welfare of her accomplice in the mission and leaving her son behind. Following up on a lead, she’s ambushed by Nix and Micah. Shocked and hurt to discover Nix has become a willing participant of Hell, she’s more certain than ever she won’t escape the demonic fate her husband outlined for her. While in Hell, she discovers denying the emergence of her succubus is futile, which means getting Nix out of Hell after embracing her inner demon just became a very real dilemma…

“You’ll heal her promptly,” Micah growled, shifting back into his human persona, as he offered his legs as a pillow for her head. She’d have pushed him away if she could’ve managed to contort her body to that angle.

Madison gaped at the blood darkening her jeans and spreading down her thigh. “That hurts way worse than I thought being shot would.”

“I need to get your pants off, Mads, to heal you.” Nix’s fingers went to the snap of her jeans.

She knocked his hands away. “You’ll heal the others first.”

“He shot the main artery in your thigh, Madison. You’ll bleed out before he finishes with them.” Micah compressed his lips together and spoke as if he ground his teeth together. “I’ve lost you twice. I will not lose you again.”

“Death would at least grant me freedom from you!”

Micah’s mouth flattened in displeasure. “Phoenix, I would ask you to do as she requests.”

“Goddamnit, Mads, I swear I’ll heal them immediately after I take care of you.”

Madison glared at Nix. “E kawoja ciok tauqelv.” I refuse your healing. Nix spewed curses in Xapil. “Impressive, you’ve learned how to curse in demon.”

Nix scowled. “Stubborn.”

Madison clenched her teeth in silent mutiny. Nix cupped the back of her head, tugged slightly and kissed her hard on the lips. Excitement zinged through her system. Her attraction to him always presented itself at the most inappropriate moments.

“I find that stubborn trait sexy, baby.”

“Flattery gets you nowhere, Nix.” She winced at the tug against her wounded flesh as he rested her against Micah’s thighs.

“What does?” Nix jerked the hem of one pant leg up and tugged the blade strapped to her ankle out of its harness.

“Good deeds.”

He brandished the knife he’d given her for her thirtieth birthday and grinned. “Does healing them count?”

“No.”

Nix rolled to his feet and leveled her with his stare. “You’re a hard woman to please.”

“Cease the flirtations with my wife.” Micah’s grip on her shoulders intensified. “Heal those bottom-feeders, and then heal her.”

“Change your name, and your hair color. Then move far away from here and lay low. I’m sorry, but at this point, that’s the best advice I can offer you.”
Laura slumped in the rickety wooden seat next to the detective’s desk and pounded her sweaty palms against the armrests. He couldn’t be giving up on her case! But the truth of the situation mocked her with every hopeless word the defeated man spoke. Just like all the others, he’d been bested. One psychopath had managed to render New York’s finest and a host of private detectives impotent.
“I don’t understand. How can this monster make my life a living hell day after day and not get caught? How can he continue to terrorize me like this and not leave any trace of who he is?”
Detective Roberts gnawed on a sunflower seed and spit the remnants into a paper cup. Had he gotten a little grayer around the temples since the last time she’d been to the station? “He knows what he’s doing, how to play the game. I’m thinking he could be one of us, or someone who’s been in law enforcement. It’s uncanny the way he can do so much and not slip up. It’s pissing me off.”
“You’re pissed?” she scoffed. “What about me? According to you, my life is about to be over as I know it.” She grabbed a tattered tissue from her purse and blew her nose. As she took a quick look in the makeup mirror, her complexion told a sorry story of incessant stress and sleep deprivation. What a mess. She plunged the mirror back into her bag and noticed paper clips strewn across his desk. One by one she gathered them into rows and columns. Then she gathered each row and deposited them back into the paper clip holder.
“Listen, I’m not giving up on you or on trying to find the sick bastard. I just think it would be best for you to disappear into a whole new life. As long as your stalker remains a mystery, it’s not safe for you to be… you. I could suggest what I’m sure all the others have— change your routines, move to another part of the city, or hire security…”
“I’ve done all that already, and he’s still around.”
“The last, most severe response is to skip town and start fresh somewhere else. Keep a low profile in some invisible job where nobody knows who you really are.”
“Do you realize what you’re asking me to do? I own a thriving book store. I have family and friends. I can’t just give it all up. Then he wins.”
“Isn’t he winning now?”

She raised a brow and turned away, preferring to straighten the various piles of paper on his desk and align each container to another rather than face the truth.

By writing paranormal romance and suspense, Deena spends her days and nights playing in the Garden of Good and Evil. She’s been known to have downed a few beers with her angels, and even put Satan in his place a time or two. She’s come to learn, however, that the human villains she creates can be more evil and depraved than the supernatural characters she conjures up. Gilbert, Arizona is home now for her family, but she hails from Philadelphia, PA and lived for many years in Manalapan, NJ. When she’s not writing, she’s teaching kids how to do the same.
