Blog Tour: Dead Sexy by Paige Tyler: Interview and Review!

Can her love save him from a curse worse than death?
Romance author Simone Kent thinks she might just have found the most perfect guy in all of New York City - in bed and out.
But Drake Parrish is about as far from perfect as any man can get. Eight years ago, he was cursed by an evil Voodoo priestess to live part of his life as a zombie. Since then, he has lived like a recluse on New York’s Upper East Side, afraid to go out for fear he’ll suddenly turn into one of the walking dead.
The sex is the hottest either of them has ever experienced and Simone discovers just how naughty she can be with Drake, while he finds himself feeling things for Simone he hasn’t felt in a very long time. When the Voodoo priestess learns of their relationship, however, she comes after him again. She's determined he won't have a future with Simone, even if that means killing both him and the woman he loves.

Paige graduated from The University of West Florida with a degree in  education in 2000, but decided to pursue a full-time career as a writer in 2004. Since then, she’s written over fifty books in several genres, including paranormal, contemporary, western, sci-fi and erotica. She loves writing about strong, sexy, alpha males and the feisty,  independent women who fall for them. From verbal foreplay to sexual heat, her stories of romance, adventure, suspense, passion and true love will leave you breathlessly panting for more.
She and her very own military hero (also known as her husband) live on the beautiful Florida coast with their adorable fur baby (also known as their dog). Paige graduated with a degree in education, but decided to pursue her passion and write books about hunky alpha males and the kickbutt heroines who fall in love with them.
When not working on her latest book, Paige enjoys reading, jogging, P90X, Yoga, Pilates, going to the beach, watching NFL football, watching movies and hanging out with her husband (not necessarily in that order!)

Tell my fans a little bit about yourself and your books. How would you introduce them to someone that has yet to read them? What inspired you to start writing? What age did you start?

Well, my name is Paige Tyler, and I write my own special brand of sexy, romantic fiction. I live on the beautiful Florida coast with my very own military hero (also known as my hubby) and our adorable fur baby (also known as our dog).
I don’t know the exact moment when I knew I wanted to be a writer, but I know it was since I was in my early teens. I think it started when I read my first Johanna Lindsey book. It was one of her sci-fi romances called Warrior’s Woman and I fell in love with the whole romance genre right then and there. Johanna Lindsey wasn’t my only muse, though. The other was Mrs. Griffin, my creative writing teacher in high school. I’d already been writing short stories since I was in elementary school by the time I took her class, but it wasn’t until she told me I should consider becoming a writer that I really thought about it. Since I loved writing, you’d think I would have pursued it right out of high school. But, no. Instead I did it as a hobby and went to college for communications before going to art school, then later switching and getting a degree in elementary education. I even taught for a little while until I discovered that wasn’t my thing. That’s when I decided to pursue my passion and write books about hunky alpha males and the kickbutt heroines who fall in love with them. A big thank you to hubby for encouraging me and supporting me in pursuing my passion!
Since then, I’ve written over fifty-five books for epublishers, as well as some indie work, and recently signed with an awesome agent named Bob Mecoy who got me a book deal with Sourcebooks for my military/paranormal shifter series X-OPS. I’m still doing the Snoopy Dance about it! The first book is called HER PERFECT MATE and comes out in May 2014.  Hope you’ll check it out!

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?

I love to hang out with my hubby and our fur baby!  Love yoga, jogging and P90X, going to the beach, watching NFL football, watching movies and our favorite TV shows (Supernatural and MTV’s Teen Wolf rock!) Oh, and hanging out on Pinterest!

What advice would you give to an aspiring author?

Be willing to spend some time finding your voice. It's fantastic if your first book is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but if you're like me, you might have to spend your first several (okay, more than that for me) books honing your craft, learning how to write better and most importantly, learning what kind of style is uniquely suited to you. That's a writer's voice, and it may take some time to get your voice just right.

And above all, write because you love it. That’s the one thing you can always control, and no one can ever take it away from you. That will be the thing that gets you through the negative reviews, or the people who try and tell you that you can't do it.

What are you currently reading?

I’m reading books by two of my favorite authors— The Officer and The Secret by Jeanette Murray on my Kindle and Get Lucky from Tall, Dark and Deadly by Suzanne Brockmann. I love sexy military heroes.

What are you currently working on?

I just finished up the second book in my X-OPS Series (sexy military heroes…hint, hint!), and now I’m currently working on an exciting new paranormal romance series (with hunky werewolves!). Just for giggles I'm also working on a boxed set of sexy contemporary romances (remember what I said about having a mind that bounces from genre to genre like a ping pong ball?)

What books did you read as a child?

I read every single Nancy Drew book (and still have them!) then graduated to Harlequin romances and Johanna Lindsey when I was a teen. Still have those too.

What genre is your favorite to read?

I love reading military romance, romantic suspense and paranormal romance. The more exciting the story, the better!

Do you listen to music while you write?

I love listening to my iPod while I write. I just said to hubby that since I like listening to my iPod (I have everything from AC/DC to Lady Gaga on there!) I should listen to my playlist on my iPad when I’m writing at home because it really gets me in the zone.

What's been your favorite moment as an author?

Hmm. First, I’ll go with the standard, typical responses and say the thrill I get when a story is under contract, the Snoopy Dance I did when I signed with my agent, and the scream I let out when I sold my first series to New York.

But my very favorite moment, and this is no bull, is getting to talk with my readers, both online and in person. When a reader squeals in joy and gives you a big hug, telling you they just love your books? I'm here to tell you, there’s no better feeling in the world.

Out of all of your characters, who is your favorite?

That’s like asking a mother to choose her favorite child. I can’t pick! (Actually, if I tried, the unhappy characters might show up in my bedroom in the middle of the night and threaten me with literary torture—paper cuts!)

What do you want readers to take away from your books?

I want them to be entertained and be transported to a place where there are hunky heroes and kickbutt heroines, a place where there’s unforgettable romance and steamy love scenes, a place where there’s excitement and adventure. And when they’re done with one book, I want them to come back for more!

You’re stranded on a desert island. What books do you take with you?

The Monster High Series by Lissi Harrison.
The Harry Potter Series by J K Rowling
The Troubleshooters Series by Suzanne Brockmann

Yeah, I’m going to need a bigger suitcase!

What book(s) do you wish you would have written?

The Monster High Series because it’s so cool and unique! It’s about the kids of all the famous monsters (Frankenstein, The Werewolf, Dracula, The Mummy, Zombies) trying to fit in at a “normie” school. I absolutely love it!  Oh, and the best part? There are dolls to go with it! And yes, I collect them!

Favorite book character?

I can’t pick! I have favorite characters from all my favorite books!

Wow! This is the first book I've read from the author and it won't be the last!

I've read excerpts and snippets from some of her other books before and knew that her stories were hot, but I wasn't prepared for how hot. I'm talking practically panting along with the main characters. It was a sexy sex fest and I loved every minute of it.

Paranormal romance is my all time favorite genre to read, but until I read Dead Sexy I had never read a book about zombies before. I was hesitant because I thought nothing could be sexy about a zombie stud. I was so wrong. Drake is a part-time zombie and he is absolutely yummy. His character was my favorite in the story. It was nice to see the womanizing wall street guy turn into the sensitive, non-narcissistic romance novel editing man. His character development was a great part of the story. It was really unique and refreshing because no man I know would be brave enough to do that, let alone read romance to get to know the genre for work. Simone is a great character too. She's feisty and knows what she wants. I loved that she was a big time author and met Drake through her books, especially since he had already read her books. Drake and Simone have chemistry that really flies off the charts.

The book was not only romantic, but was very suspenseful, action packed, and erotic at times as well as the obvious magical and paranormal aspect. I love that it's set in New York, but the bad lady is a Voodoo priestess. There was a dash of  New Orleans in the story and it was a really nice touch. There were also hints of dry humor here and there that made me laugh and love the story even more.  Also, COVER LOVE!!!

I will definitely be reading more by Paige Tyler! :)
