Blog Tour: A Mate's Bite by Milly Taiden!

Mission: Don’t fall in love

After an explosive night of passion during a scenting ceremony, Karla Alves is sure she was just a one night stand for the man she'd been crushing on for years. She teased him and pleased him, and Nate hasn't been around since. Her fear of becoming clingy kept her from risking her heart and asking for more than a few hours of skin sin.
Mission: Crack her walls
She. Is. His. Nathan Wolfe marked Karla. His mate. Deeply involved in pack politics, Nate has had to stay away. When his sister warns that Karla needs him more than he thinks, he'll discover a bundle of secrets only his wolf can sniff out. But getting the woman he cares about to let down her guard may prove to be his undoing.
Mission: Embrace the bite
With Karla's wayward sister wreaking havoc and friends needing more of his time than ever, Nate will have to rearrange his priorities if he ever hopes to earn Karla's trust. But will time with her be enough? Only true love and a wolf's promise can hold together a relationship created with a bite, a scenting, and a hope for tomorrow.

Hi! I'm Milly (AKA April Angel) I love to write sexy stories. They're usually either paranormal or contemporary with a large dose of heat. My paranormal stories can be anything from wolf-shifters (my favorites) to witches, demons and anything in between. My contemporaries are usually anything from soldiers to corporate romances.
I was born the prettiest part of the Caribbean known as the Dominican Republic. Currently, I live in New York City with my hubby, the bossy kiddo and our little dog "Needy Speedy". Don't ask.
When I'm not working some really long hours at the day job, or hanging out in the awful life-sucking invention known as Facebook, messaging my bestie in the UK or shopping with my sis Julie, then I can be found watching scary movies. Buuut when I'm not doing that, I'm usually writing because the voices won't shut up.
I am addicted to shoe shopping, chocolate (but who isn't, right?) and Dunkin' Donuts coffee.
Come on over and visit me! I love to meet new readers!

Tell my fans a little bit about yourself and your books.
I am both a paranormal and contemporary erotic romance author. I love writing stories with werewolves, demons, witches, and wounded soldiers. I am a mother to a little seven year old boy who swears he’s a grown man. I live in NYC and my hubs and I have a dog by the name of Speedy. He’s very very needy. So I call him Needy Speedy. My books cross over different categories. They’re romantic, funny, paranormal, erotic and all have a good dose of heat and action.

How would you introduce your books to someone that has yet to read them?
If you like reading steamy romances with humor, action and a fast driven plot, then these are the books for you.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?

I love to shop with my sister. I love watching scary movies with my hubs. And I love reading.

What advice would you give to an aspiring author?

Don’t quit. You might get rejected, but keep trying. And more importantly, hire a GOOD editor. Even if you’re going for a big publisher get a good editor to edit your work BEFORE you submit it. You might get some great insight AND fix problems that would make the publisher turn you away.

What’s your favorite scene/line from your works?

He pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to her. It was a flyer to customers. At the top, there was a renaming of Nate’s bar from Thirsty Wolfe to Sassy Wolfe. Underneath, it offered a “house special” called Karla’s Chocolate Seduction.
She lifted her gaze up to meet his. “Why did you do that?”
“It’s not my bar anymore. It’s ours.” He curled his arms around her waist, holding her close to him.
“But why did you add my drink? It wasn’t necessary.”
His eyes shone with love. “I want everyone to know my mate’s concoction is our house special.”
Her throat closed up on her. “Why?”
“Simple. I love you. I want you to be part of everything I do.”

What's the hardest thing about writing?

Probably getting the story finished. Sometimes you can debate with a plot and it can get exhausting.

What are you currently reading?
Nothing right this second. Have too much to work on.But the last one I read was Sex, Wolves and Rock and Roll by Mina Carter. Her first M/M and great read!

What are you currently working on?
Currently working on Dangerous Protector, book 2 in the Federal Paranormal Unit series. Very excited about it.

What books did you read as a child?
As a little kid I loved Clifford, Curious George, Amelia Bedelia. Then as a teen it was Babysitter’s Club, Stephen King, Mary Higgins Clark and ALL forms of Harlequin.

How has your life changed since you began writing?

I guess I am able to help other authors more with the resources I’ve found. I’ve been able to help give swag makers business and spread what I know with others.

Do you listen to music while you write?
No. I need silence or I can’t concentrate.

What's been your favorite moment as an author?

1.      Definitely when you finish the book and publish it. Wow that feels incredible!
2.      Getting a print copy and being able to touch and hold and pet and know those are YOUR words.
3.      Reviews and Sales. When you sell well and you get great reviews it can be a great high.

Out of all of your characters, who is your favorite?
I don’t have one. I love all of them deeply. Each one connects with me in some way. Some are the fun side of me but others are the darker more hidden side.

What do you want readers to take away from your books?

That no matter how messed up our backgrounds, our childhoods or our internal struggles, LOVE can always help make it all better.

What is your dream vacation destination?
I think the older cities of the world. Some of the ones with a lot more magic like Ireland, Scotland, Egypt, Africa and the far east. I’m a travel lover.

Do you have any interesting dreams or goals?
I want to travel the world. I want to see all areas of our planet and be able to use them in future plots.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself writing full time hopefully. I am not sure how realistic that is but we can always hope. I also see myself being more of a mommy that I’ve been with two full time jobs.

“Emma, I don’t think she really cares what color of blue you pick.” Karla tried to keep the bite from her words, but her OCD friend was getting on her last nerve.
It had been like this for an hour. One frickin’ hour of them staring at decorations. All for a bridal shower for their friend Jordan. Aric, hunky leader of the Sexy Four, finally popped the question, and she’d said yes. Not that it came as a surprise to anyone. The way poor Jordan went beet red whenever they spoke of Aric was a major indicator she had more than the hots for Ellie’s oldest brother. But now they were in a scramble to do things in a matter of days. The couple had decided they’d marry ASAP, which played havoc on Emma’s planning tendencies. Her very annoying bossy tendencies. And it meant Karla was going to have to plan the bridal shower with Nicole, or she’d end up stabbing one of her closest friends with the pretty pen she had in her hand.
“No, it has to be perfect.” Emma frowned while tracing the lines of the lace overlay she wanted to use on the reception tables.
That’s it. She couldn’t do this. There was too much other shit on her mind. Mainly, on the frustrating Nathan Wolfe. Stupid man. And why was she letting the fact that he wasn’t around annoy her? Just because they had sex—hold it. They hadn’t had sex. They’d had toe-curling, skin-biting orgasms. And now that she thought about it, her body heated with memories.
Fucking Spot.
Almost three weeks since the day of the scenting ceremony, and she’d seen him only one time at a barbecue his parents held for Jordan and Aric. And her mind and heart could do nothing but miss him. Their promise to see each other had been thwarted by multiple issues concerning Jordan and then Ellie. Then Nate had ended up leaving to help Caleb and “tomorrow” had turned into “someday." Not that she could ever be angry with her friends. It wasn’t their fault all kinds of crap had taken place. She loved them and was happy things had finally calmed a bit. But it saddened her that what had been something she’d looked forward to had disintegrated before it started.
“Okay, Emma. This is what’s going to happen,” Karla turned toward the drill sergeant with a soothing smile, “you’re going to go off and take care of all those wedding details you need to and leave this to me and Nic. We’ll handle all of it. Alone.” She tugged the fabric out of Emma’s hands with force, all the while clenching her back teeth. Emma’s grip didn’t budge. Karla tugged again and became woozy with the quick moment. The room spun for a nanosecond before righting itself. Another tug and Emma released the material. Karla wasn’t a violent person, normally, but Emma could drive a saint to murder.
Emma’s brows shot up, and her pretty hazel eyes went wide. “Are you sure? I thought you didn’t like having to decide on this kind of stuff.”
She took a breath and held it before slowly letting it out. She really needed to calm down. And stop thinking about Nathan. “No, honey. You don’t like giving me a chance to make any decisions. But as of right now, I’m releasing you from this task. I’ll handle it.”

Another sassy and sexy read from Milly Taiden! I love this series!

A Mate's Bite is the great new addition to the Sassy Mates series. It's just as fun as the first book and features new main characters. While a relatively quick read, the book is packed with romance, comedy, action, paranormal and erotic elements. There is great chemistry between the characters and good character development. All the elements you'd need to make a great story. There is more going on in this book, but it really enhanced the story and added to the suspense.

I love that the characters have their flaws and that they get a slightly bumpy start. Makes the HEA so much sweeter! :)

One thing is for sure. I'm hooked on this series! Bring on book 3! (Please let it be Ellie and Caleb! <3 )
