Blog Tour & Giveaway: Crossing the Ice by Jennifer Comeaux!

Release date: August 3rd 2014
Purchase: Amazon

Falling hard never felt so good.
Pair skaters Courtney and Mark have one shot left at their Olympic dream. They vow not to let anything get in their way, especially not Josh and Stephanie, the wealthy and talented brother and sister team.
The heart doesn’t always listen to reason, though...
The more time Courtney spends with sweet, shy Josh, the harder she falls for him. But they are on opposite sides of the competition, and their futures are headed in opposite directions. Will their friendship blossom into more or are their paths too different to cross?

Jennifer Comeaux is a tax accountant by day, writer by night. There aren’t any ice rinks near her home in south Louisiana, but she’s a diehard figure skating fan and loves to write stories of romance set in the world of competitive skating. One of her favorite pastimes is traveling to competitions, where she can experience all the glitz and drama that inspire her writing.

Tell my fans a little bit about yourself and your books.
I’ve lived in south Louisiana all my life, where figure skating isn’t exactly a popular sport, but I’ve loved watching skating since I was a little girl. When I started traveling to competitions, I became an even bigger fan and that’s when the idea for my first book came about. There aren’t many romance books set in the skating world, so I wanted to fill some of that void!

How would you introduce your books to someone that has yet to read them?
All my books are set in the world of competitive figure skating, but romance is the biggest element of the stories. I love writing those falling-in-love feelings! My books are generally feel-good reads with heart-stopping action on the ice and heart-pumping romance off the ice.

What inspired you to start writing? What age did you start?
I started writing when I was about seven years old. I used to always make up stories in my head so I started putting them on paper. I didn’t write as an adult until just a few years ago when a friend encouraged me to write the skating romance I had created in my mind.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?
I read a lot and watch a lot of TV! I also love to travel.

What advice would you give to an aspiring author?
My advice would be to stick with your story if you’re passionate about it and write a little bit every day. A little bit will add up to a lot over time! Make small goals like finishing one chapter per week so the project doesn’t feel so overwhelming.

What’s your favorite scene/line from your works?
That’s a tough one! I have a number of favorite scenes, but one from Crossing the Ice is the team-building exercise where Courtney and Josh get a lot closer than they’ve ever been. I love writing the scenes where the characters have to fight their attraction for each other.

What's the hardest thing about writing? The easiest?
The hardest thing for me is getting into a flow of words and writing a lot at one time. I self-edit as I write, so I write very slowly. The easiest thing for me is thinking of dialogue. I usually hear the conversations between the characters in my head before I write them.

What are you currently reading?
I’m about to pick up Landline by Rainbow Rowell from the library. I’ve been waiting for it to become available since it was released. I love all her books!

What are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on a novella sequel to Crossing the Ice. I’ll release more information about it shortly!

What books did you read as a child?
I loved the Sweet Valley High series and Judy Blume’s books. I used to read those books over and over.

How has your life changed since you began writing?
I’ve met so many awesome people through this writing adventure that I wouldn’t have met otherwise – readers, bloggers, other authors. It’s really opened up a whole new world and I’ve made some great friends!

Do you listen to music while you write?
I do sometimes. Music helps a lot for some scenes, like the really romantic ones. When I’m writing the skating scenes I sometimes listen to the skaters’ program music.

What's been your favorite moment as an author?
There have been so many cool moments along this journey, and I just experienced one a few days ago. I was at a skating benefit show, and after the show two-time national champion Alissa Czisny asked if I wrote Life on the Edge. She said she’s read a couple of the Edge series books and loved them! I was so floored to have such an amazing skater tell me she loved my work. It was one of the best compliments I could ever receive.

Out of all of your characters, who is your favorite?
That’s another tough one because it changes as I write each book! I get so attached to each character as I write. Right now my favorite character is Courtney. I love her sense of humor and how she always keeps it real.

What do you want readers to take away from your books?
I’d like them to feel like they became friends with the characters, to feel emotionally invested in their lives. And I’d like them to leave with a warm, satisfied feeling.

You’re stranded on a desert island. What books do you take with you?
To Kill a Mockingbird, Flat-Out Love, Lola and the Boy Next Door, among others!

What book(s) do you wish you would have written? Flat-Out Love

Favorite book character? Celeste from Flat-Out Love and Flat-Out Celeste.

What is your dream vacation destination?
I’d love to visit Europe, but I have to get over my fear of flying over the ocean first!

Do you have any interesting dreams or goals?
One of my dreams is to see my books on the shelf of a national bookstore. That would be so incredibly cool!

Where do you see yourself in five years?
I hope to be happy, healthy, and still writing!

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
Always Dream. When I was a kid I dreamed of having a book published one day, but I didn’t revisit that dream until many years later. It’s never too late to make it happen!

Where can fans find you?
They can find me all over. I love talking to readers! Here are my links:

I turned to Josh with my arms folded and my head cocked to the side. “So, you’re an athlete, a dancer and a musician? If you tell me you’re a skilled artist, I’m gonna have to hate you.”
He laughed. “I can barely draw a stick figure.”
“Whew.” I swiped my hand across my forehead.
“Even if I was the next Picasso, though, I wouldn’t have told you.” He paused and held my gaze. “I don’t like the idea of you hating me.”
My stomach fluttered. Josh didn’t often make extended eye contact, but whenever he locked those sinfully blue eyes on mine, I became a mesmerized puddle of swoon.
