Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to be here today and to announce the release of box set 1 of the Rulers of Darkness series (books 1 -3).
Tell my fans a little bit about yourself and your books.
I’m a So Cal gal through and through. My husband and I live in a little beach town with our 2 pups: Kelly (cocker spaniel) and Barrett (Blackmouth Cur Mix). We all love watching Football and Formula One, curled up and snuggled on the couch. Kelly and I are Green Bay fans while my husband and Barrett are all Raider Nationed out. Also, I come from an Italian family. Saying I cook a lot is a HUGE understatement, but I love it!
As for my books, I write what I enjoy to read: paranormal romance. I became obsessed with the genre so long ago who remembers? I currently have 2 series: Rulers of Darkness and Under Realm Assassins. Both center around vampires (my favorite), but feature other paranormal characters such as witches, shape-shifters, werewolves, and more. I also like reading historical romance and have considered trying to write one. I’ve also considered trying my hand at military romance…food for thought.
What are you currently reading?
I’m working my way through Monica McCarty’s Highland Guard series. Love it! Monica McCarty’s stories are rich in detail and historical goodies. Her writing style is wonderful; she has a real talent for drawing the reader to her characters. It doesn’t hurt that all her heroes are beyond hunky J
What inspired you to start writing? What age did you start?
I began writing in middle school and was hooked ever since. I wrote the original rough draft of Caressed by Moonlight when I was 12-13. It was written by hand. In 2010, I was going through some boxes after a recent move and found the binder I had kept the draft in. After flipping through the pages, I figured I should breathe new life into the storyline and boost up the characters. I changed it up a bit and planned to release it as a standalone until the idea of Dimitri, Hadrian, Sonya, and Gabriel came to me. Over that summer I polished it up a bit, decided to make into a series, and made one of the best choices ever – self publish. I released Caressed by Moonlight (Rulers of Darkness #1) in winter 2010.
Do you listen to music while you write?
Yep! Music helps me develop my characters, their back stories, and some songs can help be envision/write out a scene. Tech N9ne is one of my favorite music artists and I draw a lot of inspiration from his music. I generally play Pandora while I write or, when I’m having a difficult time focusing or have come to an imagination road block, I’ll listen to soothing sounds of rain. My favorite and most productive writing days are when it’s raining.
What are you currently working on?
I don’t know if I have ADHD when it comes to writing or if my characters are just too demanding, but I also have 2 to 3 storylines going at the same time. It is VERY difficult to focus on one project when there are so many characters and stories that want to share with my readers. However, my next release will be Caressed by the Edge of Darkness (Rulers of Darkness #5), Gabriel Erhard’s story. He has been seen throughout the Rulers of Darkness series and I’m excited to finally work on his book.
I’m also working on something entirely new, Passion’s Prey. I haven’t decided if this will be a standalone (as it was originally written when I was in high school. I’ve since re-written it about 10 times) or if I would like to make it a trilogy. Either way, it is going to great. I absolutely love the characters and their world and I’m anxious to share them with readers. My family and close friends say Passion’s Prey is their favorite of everything I’ve written, but it’s not just there yet…It needs a little something. I will say, the hero, Gregory Wrothston, will be stealing hearts.
Then there is my Under Realm Assassins series. All within URA will be novellas. Simple, steamy, fast paced reads. I’ve got a few ideas for this series waiting to put to paper.
Out of all of your characters, who is your favorite?
It is no secret; my favorite character is Hadrian Lucretius, King of the Validus Clan of vampires from Caressed by a Crimson Moon (Rulers of Darkness #3). He is dark, brooding, gorgeous, tortured, and sweet. I have a thing for tormented heroes. *swoon*
My next favorite would be Ethan Halstead from Surrender to the Chase (Under Realm Assassins #2) because out of all the heroes I’ve written, he reminds me the most of husband. All the way down to his ring tone, Keep their Heads Ringin by Dr. Dre.
As a fan of both Paranormal Romance and Historical Romance, it is always a delight to find the two genres melded into one story. I enjoyed the author's other series, but Caressed by Moonlight is something special. It's a captivating and sensual tale of a vampire king and a young woman he didn't know he needed.
I was a fan of this story from the very beginning. The plot is very intriguing and I loved watching how it played out. Who knew a quick marriage to a dark and handsome stranger (with fangs!) would work out so well for the main female character, Victoria. The character development and relationships between the characters were two of my favorite parts of the story besides the plot. I enjoyed the interaction between Victoria and her little sister. There were several scenes involving the two that tugged at my heartstrings. Dorian and Victoria's relationship was enjoyable for an entirely different reason. The two had a wonderfully combustible chemistry, which made for some spicy scenes (18+).
The historical aspects of this book were well done. It felt similar to a lot of my favorite historical romance novels and that is saying something because I think it is difficult to write a good historical novel. I love all the balls, reputations and scandals (Oh my!). Then there are the paranormal aspects, which are also done well. I have never been a huge fan of vampires, but this author has converted me. When done well they are dark, sexy and very addicting. That is the case with Dorian, a vampire king.
I am very much looking forward to reading the rest of this series and falling in love with the rest of the author's vampires. I recommend this series to any paranormal romance fan looking for something different.
