Deena Remiel's Devil Du Jour Blog Tour!

A big thanks to Deena for letting me participate in the tour! Love ya! <3

Devil Du Jour Blurb:

The Book Waitress, Camille Dutton, has luck on her side. Good and bad. On the upside, she narrowly escaped death and Satan claiming her soul. On the downside, a portal has been opened, and she can feel every time a creature from Hell crosses over to our world.

Derek Galloway is one tenacious man. His curious nature won’t let him rest until he closes Hell’s portal and finds a cure for Camille’s affliction. Satan will have one helluva fight on his hands if he tries to claim her again.

Camille and Derek, an unlikely couple, have found each other in the darkest of times. Will they find the answers they need to free her and the world from Satan’s grip? Or are they in for the longest, darkest battle of their lives?

Excerpt:

Evil had done a real number on her in her sleep. She had to somehow push him out of her mind. Useless facts! She could try using all those facts she stored up for no good reason, but helped her in socially awkward situations. Maybe if she thought about them, she could squeeze the darkness out.
“Did you know good means morally excellent, virtuous, and righteous?” She sniffed and wiped her wet eyes with the hem of her t-shirt. Dragging her fingers through her thick mane, she removed the tumbling mess from her face and did her best to tame the reckless locks of hair.
“No I didn’t.” He extended his hand again, and this time she took it.
“It also means honorable and worthy.”
“Both of which you are.”
She inched out of the corner, ever closer, and kneeled before him, suddenly sensing his physical need of her, his concern, and affection. How could she deny her own longing and desire for him?
“Show me, Derek.” Her breath hitched. “Show me what Satan refuses me— the truth.”
He rose to meet her in the center of the living room floor, the pair on their knees, like two souls praying and worshipping each other. Butterflies flitted joyfully in her belly, replacing the hurt of earlier, painful times. Her chin trembled with anticipation as he brought his lips to rest upon hers for the most gentle of kisses she believed had ever been given or received.
“I’m worthy, I’m worthy….” she murmured over and over as he kissed her branded eyelids and chased with feather-light kisses a single tear that had escaped to run down her cheek. He blazed another trail along her throat, down to the sweet spot between her breasts, and she enveloped him in her arms, cherishing the gentle restraint he displayed, appreciating how hard it must be for him to contain his full desires. Even she held back a little, wounds still smarting under the bandages.
But she couldn’t deny herself the glory of seeing what lay hidden under his shirt, and pushed him away to peel the thin material off in a burst of primal wanting. A godlike present had lain underneath. Smooth, sculpted arms, chest and abdomen seemed to beg for her hands to touch, and she willingly obeyed. Groaning, his eyes fluttered closed as she explored each hill with her lips and every valley with the tip of her tongue. He tasted of sunlight and all that was good and honest. Like a man. A virile man to whom she would have to show her entire body.
She froze, frightened by her urgent need and limitations.
He opened his eyes and when they met hers, they were filled with understanding. He caressed her cheek and whispered, “Camille, my beautiful flower, whatever you need, whatever you want, just tell me.”
He waited patiently for her to find her voice. “I…I don’t want you to see my body. Not like this.”
“Love-making can take many forms, sweetheart. Take me to your bed, Cam. I’ll show you.”

Wicked Fate Blog Tour!

Excerpt:

I’m not sure why being around Adam does this to me. Maybe it’s the excitement of him knowing a small part of my secrets. Perhaps it’s the fact that out of the thousands of people at school, he’s the only one that sees me.
But something about him sings to me, and the tune is refreshing.  It gives me an odd desire to know him. It started in the second grade and it’s only gotten worse over the years.
Incapable of looking away, I’m paralyzed. The emerald gates of Oz are open and I’m being allowed a tiny glimpse of a color-filled world.  Finally, he blinks and his intense spell is broken. I take advantage of the relief and quickly look out the window. The sky is bright and blue, a slither of sunlight shines down on us from a hovering white cloud.
The rain clouds from earlier have suddenly disappeared and I know I’m responsible. The intensity of the warmth I feel being this close to him has transformed the day. What would've been a rainy walk home will now be sunny.
I wonder to myself what the hell I’m doing.
I’m not a little, blushing girl. I’m not one of those girls who melt every time an attractive guy talks to them. I’m not a mindless tart who lusts after jerks!
Not saying Adam’s a jerk, but there’s no need for us to start talking now. I don’t want to condemn him to the gates of social hell for being polite to me. If he’s still the sweet little boy from second grade, then he definitely doesn’t deserve what Bernie experienced a few hours ago.
I say nothing as I gather my things and walk away.

Thankful Book Lovers Blog Hop!

First off, I'd like to say a big thank you to Sabrina Ford for inviting me to participate in this blog hop.

What am I thankful for?

Lately I've been contemplating all that I have, all the opportunities I've been given, and I really think there isn't anything that I'm not thankful for. I'm thankful for my great family, my wonderful best friend. I'm thankful that I'm able to further my education at a good school. I'm thankful that the grass is green (instead of last years brown) and that it's finally starting to cool off. I'm thankful for all the authors that write the amazing books to read, and that I have money to buy their books. I'm thankful for all the authors, reviewers, and bloggers that I have become friends with since I began reviewing and blogging in June 2011. I'm thankful that I've had the opportunity to meet three of my four amazing authors in person!

Most of all, I'm thankful to be alive.

Morgan Kearns: I'm very thankful to my Father in Heaven for all the blessings He sees fit to give me every day. I have the best family in the world. I'm grateful for a loving husband and four amazing kids! I love doing what I do and am immensely thankful to everyone who has ever read one of my novels. The love and support I get from my readers is humbling. I'm also grateful to my characters who allow me to tell their stories. I pray they never stop talking to me.
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

Gracen Miller: I am thankful for so much…for my wonderful husband of 21 years, my children, family and close friends. That my granny is still living to witness the arrival of the fifth generation into our family and that my father-in-law beat leukemia a second time. I’m grateful we’re able to provide for our children. I’m thankful that I’ve been given the ability to weave words together in such a manner that entertains. Each book is a new adventure and I’m blessed to have a wonderful group of readers and friends live them with me. I’m even thankful for the struggles placed in my path because they make me stronger and shape me into the person I am.
Huggles,
Gracen

AJ Sweeny: This year started with an earth-shaking bang in my life. And just when I thought that there was noting else that was dear to me enough to hold on to or for, a wonderful group of friends proved me wrong. These friends watched over me and comforted me day and night until they felt that I was safe from whatever emotional abyss I was standing next to. These friends gave so much to me even if they were themselves running on almost empty. So this year I am dedicating my biggest thanks to good friends. Good humans, who are caring by nature. Of course I have so much more to be thankful of, like my family and my health, as it could always be worse etc. etc. etc. And of course I am ever thankful that my words can move and carry my readers to a place where they can get a little reprieve from their own daily and sometimes hectic lives. I am always thankful that I live in the United States too- something that I never take for granted.<3

Deena Remiel: There is much to be thankful for in my life. I am thankful for the fortitude I've been blessed with to endure the various hardships that have come my way. I am grateful for the optimistic outlook that keeps me living above the line. I am ever thankful for the health of my family and that we are able to provide for our children. I am blessed with the most wonderful friends and readers, and thank God for them every time I write a word or speak their names.

About the Author
Gracen is a small town girl who was transplanted to the big city almost ten years ago. She describes herself as a hopeless daydreamer masquerading as a “normal” person in Southern society. When not writing, she’s a full-time basketball/football/guitar mom for her two sons and a devoted wife to her real-life hero-husband. She’s addicted to writing, paranormal romance novels and movies, Alabama football and coffee…addictions are not necessarily in order of priority. She is convinced coffee is nectar from the gods and blending coffee and writing generates the perfect creative merger. Many of her stories are spawned from these coffee highs. Excerpt:

She slept like an angel. It wasn’t the first time he’d thought so, but it never failed to amaze him just how much. Her hair was a basket of ribbons spilled across his chest. Her hands, small and delicate, lay lightly curled next to her mouth. She breathed through her nose and made a soft exhaling sound through her mouth. She was perfectly molded into his side, the way she had been since they were children and he’d wake up with her draped across his stomach, her foot up near his nose. She hadn’t been nearly as graceful a sleeper then. He also didn’t pinch her feet to wake her up anymore.
Instead, he lightly kissed the riot of ringlets on the top of her head. His fingers glided over the curve of her shoulder, down her arm to her elbow. It took a little longer, but he enjoyed the morning ritual.
“Amalie?” he whispered into her temple.
“Five more minutes,” she grumbled, burrowing her face into the hollow of his throat.
Biting back his chuckle, Isaiah shifted his weight, slipping out from beneath her and lying on his side. Her whine had his lips twitching.
“What if your father goes to your room and finds it empty?”
She peeled one eye open, squinted at him. “He’ll come in here and force you to marry me in order to uphold my honor.”
He laughed. “First of all, he’d probably kill us both and secondly, he wouldn’t have to force me to do anything.” He kissed her gaping mouth. “Come on. Get up.”
Her giggles filled his ear when he nuzzled the spot beneath her the curve of her jaw. She squirmed, but he held her down, biting and nibbling on the smooth stretch of skin. Her squeals faded into soft moans that sent his blood skating with fire. Her fingers tangled in his hair. Her body arched into his, fitting every inch as though she were made specifically for him. His own hand traveled down to her hip. His intentions were to stop her, to restrain her before things went too far, but his hand came up against smooth flesh where her nightgown had bunched, exposing her leg from the hip down and his good intentions scattered.
“Amalie…” The plea in his voice was raw with desperation; one word from her, one flicker of doubt and it was over. He’d stop.
But her eyes were as dark as his hunger, her lips red from the being assaulted by her teeth. The pink in her cheeks darkened.
“I love you, Isaiah.” And that’s all it took. He came completely undone.

Review: The Selkie by Rosanna Leo!

Synopsis:
This was supposed to be her year. However, after losing her job and discovering her fiancé cheating, Maggie Collins has her doubts. When her grandmother dies, she hits rock bottom. Maggie travels to her grandmother’s home in Orkney, Scotland to sort through her gran’s things, only to discover the old woman has left her a seal pelt as her inheritance. She also learns that others are after the pelt.

To add to her frustration, Maggie’s dreams are filled with luscious images of a long-haired man, images that draw her to the magical beaches in Orkney. Although she’s lost her trust in men, this dream man inspires her with a lust she’s never known before.

Calan Kirk has also been dreaming. Dreaming of Maggie, the mortal woman who arouses him as no other woman ever has. Meeting her in the flesh when she arrives in Orkney is nothing short of spontaneous sexual combustion. But she is a human, and not to be trusted. He needs the seal pelt, not a red-haired temptress.

As a thief ransacks Maggie’s grandmother’s house, Maggie and Calan are thrust together. They must search for the animal skin, a mythical relic which once found, will either bring them together or rip them apart forever.

My Review:
This book was the first I'd read about Selkies and from Rosanna Leo. I'll be reading more from both! :)

When I first discovered Selkies were seal shape shifters, I was torn between thinking that I could never find a seal man sexy, and thinking that this would be a great way to broaden my love for all things paranormal. I was wrong about the former- definitely wrong- and right about the latter. From the moment the story began, I was enthralled by both the way Rosanna told the story and by the fascinating myth of the Selkie people. She draws you completely into the story with the way she writes. She'll make you fall in love- not just with the characters, but with the sea and the landscape in the story.

Set mostly in the beautiful Scotland, filled with myth, romance, mystery, and extremely sexy scenes, this novella is definitely worth picking up. There's also quite a bit of scenes that are funny and touching. There was never a moment that I wasn't smiling, laughing, or in tears. I found myself wanting to research Selkies and Finman even more after finishing the story. The ending alone is worth ten stars, I nearly bawled like a baby because it was so beautiful.

Calan Kirk, yes it makes me think of Star Trek and there is a joke about the show, stole my heart the moment he entered the story. I knew right away that I had to add him to my list of fictional loves- at the top, no less. This mostly immortal man is as charming and handsome as he is strong. He's everything a woman could want in a man (including a sexy accent), complete with a hearty appetite- for more than just food. Maggie, the mortal, has hit rock bottom. She's lost everything and doesn't know anything except that she's been dreaming about a gorgeous man and a seal. When the pair meets the chemistry is absolutely explosive. They both fight their feelings for each other for a bit, so the fire grows even hotter!

There are several other great characters in the story. I loved the glimpse at all of Calan's family, and adored his oldest brother and his wife. They're such a cute couple.

This story is captivating, beautiful, and erotic. It's a quick read, but one that is endlessly entertaining and one that I can see myself reading again. (That's why it ended up on my favorites shelf!) It packs quite a punch for being 160 pages. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great, unique story in the paranormal romance genre.

I really hope that Rosanna writes more about her sexy Selkie men! I'll be waiting eagerly!

5/5
